Yes 97.52 or 100.30 both have rather shoddy performance on Vista still on GF7 cards, and the Audigy drivers arent any good for most games due to MS deciding to remove the hardware layer, which results in 2-channel flat sound, and anything above that (4.1,5.1) results in sound crackling etc (really bad stuff).

ALchemy is only available on X-Fi atm, which supposedly fixes this problem. Damnit I hope they release it for Audigy series as well, otherwise I'll feel ripped off that I have to spend $100 or $200 to upgrade to X-Fi :thumbdwn:

If I ever buy Vista for testing purposes, I'm going to wait a little while and let hardware/software support catch up. Buying Vista right now from a PC gamer or everyday user is not wise.

What would be the biggest difference between the OEM and retail versions?

as far as i know

OEM only has one version per disc 32 or 64bit

OEM has much more stricker hardware change/activation

Ya, I wish it had both and I would go for it. :( Still tempting though. I am tempted to just get an OEM 32 bit version. How long before 64bit would finally "be in" ?

I heard it will be changing the motherboard will be required to reactivate but not on with a video card or processor and so on. I don't plan on changing my motherboard for quite awhile anyways.

so... for this "reactivation" for OEM. What do i have to do? Just simply log into windows update and it will do it automatically? Whats the big deal with that? Worst case scenario I have to call microsoft to reactivate my OEM copy. I still dont see the problem....

xp was a bitch for activation, especially in the early days, later on in SP2 got less restrictive

in the early days, pretty much anything done to my machine asked for re-activation.
