I couldn't agree more. ESPN often also has some really great looking games on, but on the whole, Discovery is teh best.

I like ABC in HD however the audio stream dies every now and then. Discovery HD has by far the best picture.

Discovery HD and National Geographic HD are both excellent.

Question... Stupid question.. but a question none the less....

When watching basketball games(or any games) are there some cameras that display in HD and some that display in SD? When I watch basketball, I swear sometimes I'm watching the game and it looks GORGEOUS, while the very next camera angle of game will look like trash. That possible? Or do they all display in HD capable resolution? Is it just bad focus from certain angles?

You know, I've often thought the very same thing...I'm almost postive that all the instant replay footage is in SD and I know there have been times where it goes from awesome HD to crappy SD.

Yeah, it's right on par with Discovery HD both in quality and content.

Milwaukee doesn't have NG HD, nor does Time Warner have any plans to bring it in the immediate future as far as I know. :(

ESPN or those INHD(i think that's the name) channels that show basketball games from time to time. Discovery is a good one as well.

That wouldn't really suprise me. I'm sure some of the camera locations it is probably very expensive to replace the cameras, and they probably haven't done it yet. I was taking note of an episode of American Chopper when Mikey was using the camera, I thought for sure they wouldn't give him an HD camera, but if you look on the side of it, it said 1080i.

I wish I had discover hd and national geo hd :-\

I think INHD has the best quality for me. Sucks HBO and other movie channels use really low bit-rates.

Favorite or best looking? Big difference...

Best looking is Discovery HD by far. I shat my pants when I first saw this.

Favorites, in no order, are Music HD (loved the Gorrilaz concert), Universal HD (BSG and Firefly in HD anyone?), HBO HD (Rome in HD just rocks), HD NBC (Office and My Name is Earl)

Sometimes I am amazed at the picture quality on HD NET.

how does Discovery HD compare to say Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? Is it close or not even?

I really don't think that any HD Streams are even close to movies yet. I've seen FOX in HD, Discovery, PBS, and none of them even come close to an HD movie. I'm sure in time it will probably get better, but there is most likely more compression on the streams than the discs have.

Of all the HD channels, I'd have to say that Discovery comes closest to the quality of HD DVD but it still has a long way to go to get to that level completely.
