They have Asus, MSI and TerraTec versions. The Asus 5800 Ultra is just £314!

Yes, I saw that. With the range in those prices, I wonder how long they'll last (the high and the low).

TerraTec and Gainward's non-ultra seem overly expensive, do they have big software bundles or something? Gainward's ultra is also way too much, but that's the one with the firewire and sound card included isn't it?

Can't see Gainward selling many with both their cards more expensive than the competition.

Edit: Dabs (http://www.dabs.com/) also has a few up.

Personally, I think 55FPS in Doom3 Alpha Leak is pretty damn respectable (5000 on 3dmark2k3 ain't bad either.) Not only that, the drivers have yet to be optimized (the 43.00 are crap, I'm still using the 42.68s). Also, MSI should be releaseing some Ultra's soon as well. True they aren't widely available, but you can find them if your quick on the draw (newegg had the evga last week...all gone now). At any rate, I'm very happy with my purchase...

I admit that I'm no fan of Nvidia cards and I will buy a 9700.But when it comes down to it ,it is what make you happy that counts. If your satisfied with your purchase kudos to you.Congarts on your new card. Now get down to buisness and enjoy it.

Wrong .... do some research and get back to me.

Why don't you prove him wrong then? What's that? Can't? Then why don't you tone it down a bit?

AFAIK, 1 million R300 chips were shipped by November or so (chips only). The recent press release only says that ATI sold 1 million R300 video cards (complete ATI branded video cards).

Okay, since you asked nicely... here's my on-topic post:

I can't find anyone even advertising GFFX here in Canada, nevermind having it available to buy. ;)

I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, but consumers shouldn't have to fight and race each other to buy the gfx card they want.

All limited supply does is allow retailers to overcharge, in the end it's the consumer who will suffer.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your card, despite it's faults it's still a damn good performer and as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters :)

john malley from bfg said over on the [H] forum today that the 2nd shipment hit bfg on the 12th and was shipped out to best buy and the 3rd hits bfg on monday and will be shipped out to best buy then. all the pre orders should be out and in users hands he says by end of next week.

now on the best buy end i found out that on their internal web browser product lookup thing they show an in store shelf date of april 1. same date the the 9800 will be in stock at the stores aparently.

people have cancelled pre orders tho so im assuming theyll be willing to sell the pre order cards that were cancelled in store so you probobly wanna check w/ your local best buys inventory manager.

but if i were you personally, id just hit up newegg since they got em right now.

yeah and on the first they will probobly announce the nv35. just order something if you need a new card. =p

im sure bout a month after the nv 35 announcement ati will announce an ultra version of the r350. over and over the cycle continues. i have a feeling this war is going to shorten that 6 month product cycle again.

Hm, the war wont repeate.

Right now ATI made a movethat upset the status quo, nvidia eather can let it go and foucs to sell millions and millons while not being on the top or regain control.

after the NV40/R400 i belive they will have stoped the war when one party conceeds and takes the back seat.

Having said that, I've been wanting to try a FX card just to see if I can live with the noise (which I doubt will be acceptable) but I haven't been able to find one either and Best Buy keeps giving me different dates every time I ask them. The Tom's Hardware review also has me a little worried (I guess it's the 16 vs 32 bit precision deal that some have already mentioned).

I've been 100% nvidia until I replaced my GF4600 with a 9700pro last fall. I can never resist trying out the lastest card that's available. I'll probably get a radeon 9800 pro 256 when it shows up. However, since I do love to play with new hardware, I went ahead and ordered a Geforce FX from Newegg. I've got a waterblock ready to slap on it when it arrives. (The fact that the ATI Cat3.2 drivers broke all the half life based games probably pushed me over the edge into trying the FX.)

well...damn me for seeing this thread....damn me for having an account on file at newegg...i have placed an order for a pny fx ultra

supposedly newegg has it listed as "in stock"...so if anyone has any questions about the 9700 pro vs. the fx ultra (i will take pics of both cards side by side for the non-believers that will assume i dont own both), ask me now, and i will try and answer them when i receive it

Anyone know if the PNY 5-year warranty is the same for an OEM and retail part?

Generally speaking, you don't get a retail warranty on an OEM part. AFAIK, your OEM warranty is with the retail outlet where you purchased the card, not directly with the manufacturer. Only rarely will a manufacturer (I think the old VisionTek was one) allow you to deal directly with them for warranty coverage on OEM parts.

I own a radeon 9700 pro and it works great in my sony oem pc with(agp 4x, limited bios settings etc, etc. ). Anyway I built a system ( see specs below, pc 1) with an asus p4s8x mobo that has some real good features such as ddr400 (which dont work, I can only get a little better that ddr333 speeds) and oc features (which I dont use). This board does have a history of problems with the radeon 9700 pro but I really think its a compatibility issue between mobo and 9700 pro. Although buying another mobo is cheaper (which may not have all the features I want) it is easier to swap video cards. So here I go spending $400 bucks. Im very tired of all my games either freezing which they mostly do or kicking me back to my desktop. I cant take it anymore so I bought one of the geforce fx cards (oem ) from newegg and im hoping it will get here by this friday. Whats important to me is agp8x, directx 9 card and high clock speeds. Unfortunately I cant run any games longer than a couple of minutes w/o freezes or crashes. I have every current driver for my mobo, sis chipset(agp & ide), video card, sound card you name it including a rage3d tweak for my ati card. All has failed me. The weird part is that I can run 3dmark 2003 fine so why does my games freeze after a few minutes????? Anyway I hope I get it and it solves my problems. Ill keep you guys posted.

i know you said you have all the latest agp and mobo drivers... but how about the bios? have you flashed that to the latest version?

Yeah I have the latest mobo beta bios for this asus p4s8x board 1005.009. I scarded to disable agp 8x if fear that I will not lock up again, hell if that happens then one of my biggest reasons for buying this board was to have agp 8x.
