DVD won't play in some apps.

One of my collegues computers doesn't want to play DVDs in Realplayer or WMP11 and also Nero Showtime. It all played fine in those apps before he took the pc to a pc workshop to install a video capture card. In the end the card was not installed (long story). And now the the DVD doesn't want to play. It still plays fine in PowerDVD however.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be and how to fix it.

Weird, especially since none of those need Purevideo to run. Got me! Maybe install Purevideo decoder and see what happens?

You probably need to reinstall/re-register the codecs on the system. Each player is probably looking for a different decoder.

K-lite codec pack has a tool that scans for missing or broken codecs. I personally use the full package with standard install (but in addition, I install everything from the tools section). And no, all codec packs are not bad.... so get over it if that's what any of you are thinking.
