We heard faintly about NVIDIA SLI 2.0 technology and it is going to launch during CeBIT in March. Little information is available at this moment but we heard that it will be able to support mixed cards. We are unclear if it is across different series or different models of the same series.. Also there are some rumors out now that GeForce 8x00 series will be able to support multi-GPUs SLI by linking up 4, 6 to 8 cards or more. This multi-GPUs SLI capability could form part of the SLI 2.0 technology we are hearing.

Sounds good :D
O man right when I upgrade to a SLI based computer now they go out and do this, I hate tech
8 cards ?? looks like Octal-SLI will become real sometime!

But with single GPU cards we'll need bigger cases ;)

Glad i bought myself a thermaltake armor with more space than an aircraft hangar.

Glad I haven't bought a new case yet, still using the same one I had for my Pentium 4 6800U system 3 years ago.

think external....
/retsam crosses his fingers hoping there is some sort of memory span technology....

Hmm... I wonder if they'd enable running a Radeon paired with a GeForce. Imagine an 8800GTX/2800XTX! Doubt that'll happen simply due to the drivers. :p
Again, the above is assuming that the 2800XTX is a beast of a card.
This sounds like something more aimed the professional market.

Kind of what I was thinking. I could see some enthusiasts going this route (4+ GPUs), but I doubt many will.
8 card SLI already exists.

it does?...did i miss something here....
looks over at jakup...someone's falling behind.

Up to 4 GPU's per external box, can connect 2 of them to one machine, for a max of 8 GPU's.
Imagine the cpu limitation with 8 cards. I think I'll stick with 1 for the forseeable future.

Yes but not for gamers.
8 GPU's... I would absolutely love to :D But man is that expensive..lol

Pretty soon we'll see $299 Hewlett Packards and Compaqs with 7300LE's in SLI.

And a case with room for 8 dual slot cards... it has to be multi GPU cards I think.

3U Rackmount cases with external DC power connections FTW! :D

Actually 4xPCI-E slots will do if we consider dual board solutions (7950GX2-like boards).

AMD is ready, 4 PCI-E in their Quad FX mobos, but does this mean Intel will need a new platform? 690i or...780i :D
