For anybody interested in buying the 150GB Raptor (or two) its on sale at newegg.com for $10 off of $229.99, plus a $30 rebate, which puts it at $189.99, plus add this promo code:

EMC123WESTDIG

And you'll get an extra $5 off, making it a total of $184.99, and right now shipping is free on this HDD.

If you must have the Raptor X, its only $10 more at $194.99 (though I am going for the non X since it isn't as noisy.)

This deal is good until Sunday I believe. Even though this is OEM, my research indicates that it has a 5 year warranty.

Theyve actually been like that for a while now.

I bought my windowed one for 200 back in November when i bought my most recent overhaul.

Still, cant go wrong with the window for 200 now. :D

Depends on if you buy new,or used,or from a close out sale,or Ebay, but yes generally they are a little pricy compared to regular 7200 rpm hd's.What is or can be really, really expensive though is the controller, especially ones that can take ram.Ram on these cards can drive performance straight through the roof.Transfer rates and access times are greatly improved.I have 12 Cheetahs I bought at a government auction lot sale in my town.Got a great deal on the drives and controllers. They are of various gens and sizes.73's and 143's,10k and 15k.
