smart fan

I want to lower the speed of my 680i chipset fan. It spins very fast at 5500rpm and so is very loud. I don't think I need it to be that fast anymore. I tried using smart fan but it's very confusing and buggy. As soon as I lower the percentage, the fan regisetr goes haywireor perhasp the fan itself is I don't know.

What else is there to lower the fan speed without using smartfan. I want something like how Asus has in windows called Q fan.Cheers.

As long as you you are not haveing to run at very high voltages to overclock ,you could just take the little fan out,but the only way to make it run slower is to use SmartFan.I don't trust SmartFan so I just don't use it ,but mine is not that loud ,really I can not hear it over my case fans.
