I mean ps2 is soaring, everybody has a ps2 and is still happy with it, they wouldnt want to spend another 300 dollars to buy a new ps3. And wouldnt that also hurt the huge and highly profitable ps2 game market? That's crazy, i want to see this play out. If so, what kind of performance can we expect out of this beast?
P.S. Looks like nv30 has something else to worry about :-)
lmao impossible, unless IBM are increably fast at making powerfull chips, that they can have a console chip faster then the fastest P4 from scratch in less then a year lmao.

i dont think anyone would make gams for ps3 because people still want PS2 games!
Also, when the Dreamcast came out they said "Its more powerfull than a P3 500mhz (those PC's were JUST out then) then they found out its not.
PR likes to compare consoles to something that cannot be benchmarked, but is just a known fact.

Nope. sorry. Playstation 3 isnt coming til 2005 at the soonest. its gonna be 2005 or 2006. development kits will probably be out in 2004 though.

i dont see any reason for it to be released this year as the ps2 is still getting more sales than both of the other two combined and it doesnt look like slowing down soon. sony will be focused cause they know that MS will try to beat them to the punch and get the xbox2 out before the ps3 so maybe mid 2004 sounds good to me .i dont think they will leave it till 2005 late/2006 thats way to late and the consol will be way outdated by then

the ps3 will be pretty fast , by late 2004 or early 2005 they should have some pretty impressive manufacturing technology available to them .

id like to add that the ps2 can do somethings the pc cant ,its lighting in games is much better considering also that its still pretty old tech vs current pc's ,i own both .

Probably means it can render graphics 100 times faster than the fastest P4, but us PC owners don't use our P4s for graphics rendering. Thats what the GPU is for.
My 9700 is probably "100 times faster" than my 2.8 ghz P4 when it comes to graphics operations.
Console kiddies tend to have a problem understanding that on a PC, the CPU and GPU are different things. They also have a problem understanding that a PC has video ram seperate from system memory, especially when they are bragging about memory speeds.

Agreed, also the consol people dont realize that the screen is being renderd at 480x360 or something worse.
Of course no AA or AF. Consoles allways try to claim "well our graphics are better" I allways try to explane 'resolution' to them but they cant handle it heh.
