NVidia drivers on RH8 over XFree4.30, Mesa5, 2.4.18-26.8.0 kernel

Anyone had tried/has suggestions/recomendations about installing NVidia drivers on a AMD system running RH8 with kernel 2.4.18-26.8.0, XFree 4.30, and Mesa 5.0 ?
What possible situations will i encounter?

The kernel version in particular is unimportant, except to say that you must have kernel sources installed and configured to match your running kernel.
