View Full Version : Anyone had any bsod's yet?
I have had 2 so far in the space of 4 days which isnt as bad as I feared. Both of them have been Usb Bugcode malarkey.
Haven't had any yet. Been using it for about 4 days.
None for me either but I haven't done much with it except print a few things, browse the web and check e-mail. Briefly tried getting the ATI HDTV Wonder to work but that was a no go but I think I've found the procedure for getting it to work.

None here either but I havent really used Vista all that much. I'm still going to stick to XP as my primary OS for a while.
I have to say, I've been impressed with Vista so far. Its very polished and overall it actually seems to work really well with very few problems which is pretty impressive for a brand new operating system. :p
I had my first today when I tried to install the Kaspersky antivirus prog (30 days trial). :thumbdwn: I thought the 6.0 version was alright for Vista?
I've had no luck finding an AV program that works for vista. The "CA antivirus" locked my comp.
Norton, does it work? :)
I don't feel secure without an av prog!!11 :D
After finishing the beta testing cycle back in November, frankly since then I hadn't used Vista much at all due to a lack of drivers. So, now that we have some better drivers, I wiped my pre-release day Vista Ultimate partition last night and installed a fresh copy and loaded up the latest drivers, etc. So far, its running just fine and no BSOD's so far. I have not tried games yet. I just went through installing drivers and Office 2007 and thats about it.

I use AVG Anti Malware on Vista and it works perfectly. It's one of the recommended scanners if you go through the link on security center for finding a virus checker.

Zero for me too :)
I got Microsoft's Onecare 1.5 for Vista free with my Vista purchase. I haven't installed it yet though but I assume it's antivirus would have no issues with Vista. I would try that.
Thanks for the tips about the AV progs guys, much appreciated. :)
I found an 60 days trial that works fine for now though.

Lets hope that "avast" does the job though. :o
Damn, I've never been a beta tester before. I'm glad I can double boot. :D

I had a BSOD last night with Medieval 2 using SLI. It lost the device handle, Vista tried to recover, and BOOM. Looks like the 100.59s are the culprit.
RE antivirus programs, Avast works on Vista x64.

Remember that your hardware is going to affect this. After switching to an intel motherboard, I have never seen any BSODs in XP except for those caused by nv4_disp.dll. Prior to that I ran into them at least twice a month on asus, dell, and via motherboards.
Fortunately in vista the nvidia driver can no longer cause a BSOD.

Norton, does it work? :)
I downloaded it yesterday and it worked great.
To download Norton Internet Security 2007 or others, go to Norton Update Center for Windows Vista here (http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/home_homeoffice/support/special/upgrade2007/vista/migration_start.jsp) then click Begin button, do not accept ActiveX first time and it will be bypass to a page with listing of Norton software. Chose one what you want and then after that, accept the ActiveX for download manager and download of your Norton trial software for Vista will begin.
That how I did downloaded Norton Internet Security 2007 trial for Vista. :)

I had a few, mainly coz I am testing/bugfixing drivers for Vista... :p
<note>Have to rant a bit , coz I see a lot people complaining about the lack of drivers...and why companies are not on time.... Without knowing the situation ofcourse...
So yes, i am STILL testing drivers...sigh and no they did NOT give me enough time to change/test them.. Our main driver programmer left and i am doing his job suddenly.... :headexplode:
Nice dude , eh?...
So please Stuff it, let me continue and maybe in a year or so, I will have new fresh shiny drivers for ya all... :o
ps. I work for a smartcard reader developer in HK..
</note>
Normal usage did not encounter any BSOD's as of yet, btw..

Ok, I got another BSOD, playing BF2142. Same as M2TW's last night. It was "BSOD_LOCKED_PAGES" or something very similar. Could be due to the lack of 680i drivers?
I haven't had any bluescreens but I have crashed my share of games. In a week we should all post our reliability charts. :)
I got a few so far when trying to get 5.9 in the CPU score :o

LOL. I just got it installed, no BSOD's yet. I'm getting a 5.3 on the processor. (FX-60 @ 2.8)
I just wish I could have gotten the raid to work, bastard install killed my xp install without even making any changes. I didn't even tell it to do anything with the drives yet, because when I saw it was seeing 2 drives, I knew it wasn't right. So I installed on just another single drive.

Yeah I had a few in xp that I think were caused by that nv4_disp.dl driver. When I upgrade to a core 2 system, I thin ill be migrating to an Intel chipset mobo. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Vista was uncrashable.
I havn't had any...Been using Vista for 2 months. The catch is that I'm careful about what I install and I don't play games on any of my vista machines.

I've also had two hardlocks - in FireFox of all things. Since everyone I've seen with Intel chipsets can't get Vista to lock or BSOD, its got to be the (lack of) nForce drivers.

Not yet. Lame OGL performance is my only gripe at this time.
