Just wondering how many guys are using the speech recognition system in vista. So far it has been very interesting sometimes all work sometimes will not.

This entire post has been done using speech recognition. With the exception of the new thread, and title.

I navigated from the desktop to this web page and entered this text using only Windows Vista speech recognition. Isn't that cool? 0I'm surprised it works so well.

Edit: I also wanted to mention that I did this all on my laptop while I was sitting on the toilet.

Be sure to run through the entire tutorial. Not only does it teach you basic commands but it also helps the system become familiar with the way you say things.

They even have a little disclaimer at the end which mentions that it's "cutting edge technology" and therefore won't always work perfectly. However, with a little effort I've been able to get the OS up to speed on how I say some pretty basic and common things. I was messing around in word and was able to dictate an entire page with very few mistakes.

Even with the inevitable mistakes the system will make, I was very surprised at how well the correction feature works. It makes correcting things very easy. One more thing, I don't remember where the option is but if you find an option to allow the OS to monitor and learn from your dictation at all times it can speed up the learning curve. Otherwise it really only learns from the tutorial and when you manually enter a practice. I'm sure it eats up a few resources but even on my laptop it hasn't interfered with anything I was doing.

LOL! Newsflash!!! Your computer is vulnerable to me breaking into your house and stealing your hard drive. Therefore, windows is the sux!

That's about how seriously I took that article.
