display properties setting for monitor

in monitor properties it says Direct X override refresh rate, what does this mean and what should i have it set to? I got a 15 inch monitor running at 800x 600 at 60hz {h.p one}

I think this is for forcing Direct-X apps to run at a specific refresh rate instead the 60Hz default. Beware! You could damage your monitor if not set correctly, because it applies the same refresh to all resolutions. Make sure to choose a refresh rate supported by your monitor under all resolutions.
