Steve Erickson, vice president for Creative's audio products:
Nevermind.:(
Dude...That thread was from 2005 :D

Although it doesn't seen to have received much attention, Creative showed off a PCI Express version of its X-Fi XtremeAudio sound card at CES earlier this week. The folks at Japanese site PC Watch have taken some pictures of the card at Creative's CES booth, and one can spot a few interesting details.
For one, the card uses a PCIe x1 interface, so it should easily slip into most recent motherboards. Creative has also outfitted the card with S/PDIF optical in and out ports, reducing the need for a bulky break-out box or 5.25" drive bay interface. Interestingly, the card appears to have a much smaller X-Fi chip than either the original XtremeAudio or Creative's X-Fi XtremeMusic. Considering that the X-Fi XtremeAudio is currently Creative's cheapest X-Fi sound card, it seems strange that the company would choose to show off a PCIe version of that particular card rather than, say, a PCIe X-Fi Fatal1ty.
See, now you can have your cake and eat it too...Just for info, my tech asked creative at E305 about this and got the same response, but it seems they have found a way around the problem...
**EDIT** I wanted to comment on how users are targeting Tiki, but I'll keep my mouth shut as to not derail the thread any more than it is :)

Honestly for the longest I thought you were a viral marketer...
You might as well just post... bump.
Move along now, there's nothing to see here.
if you want to bash respected members, go do it in another forum. no one cares wtf you have to say tbh. :|
im freakin sick of this wave of ppl that have been coming in lately and just trashin ppl. theres other forums for that ****. its not just Tiki thats gettin bashed. i see other ppl just tryin to tell others about things and they get ripped on for no reason.
Tiki isnt getting paid to spread info on these boards and others dont get paid to help ppl here with technical problems. its like, ppl come in here expecting help and mocking others if they dont get exactly what they want to hear. also, who the hell cares that he posted twice in a row? are you paying for webspace? obviously you arent, so stfu already.
and finally, gtfo of here if all you want to do is bash ppl.

I hate you all!
I agree with Retsam. Something needs to be done. It's just crazy that a users looses all of their expandability when using SLI of any form. I guess they MUST be working on something.

Not 100% true. When SLi'ing dual-slot graphics cards, you have the use of 1 PCI slot; if the graphics cards are single then you very well could use up to two PCI/PCI-e x1 (or x4) slots depending on mobo.
I know in my mobo two dual-slot graphics cards only leaves on PCI slot open. :(

Yeah, only leaves one open for me too. Not a problem now, but it was when I had the x-fi AND wireless network card. I've since ditched the wireless.
It will be a problem again if Ageia takes off with UE3 though...

To be honest, I'm hoping they do. If I had to choose only one addin card for my rig, it'd be for a Physics card. I'd settle for onboard audio, I'd settle for hardwiring my computer to the home network (or using a USB wireless adapter) if it meant that I'd get extremely killer physics in my games.
We'll find out soon enough.

You're telling me. The holder was attached to the side of my desk, the USB dongle was sitting in it, connected via a USB cable. I leave it for a few hours, come back and it's all missing. Fallen to the floor. The adapter is still working fine, but the holder had melted slightly. It was cool when I picked it up, but at some point it had gotten very hot.
It took a bit but I finally removed the warped holder. The actual adapter was unaffected. It's now locked in the drawer and only comes out for visiting PCs.

I told you that you can't stream all your Pr0n over it, it overloads the connection.

Well X-Fi would still work using 3 Way SLI with the DFI 680i board:

I have waited and waited for this board. Will it every make it to market?
Right now I really don't care in that I am having a lot of fun with the 650i but if it does show up I will still be inclined to grab it.
isnt DFi going out of business?
There was talk when they dropped DFI Street and the forums but since I have not read of anything definite. The forums are back up under another name but I have not been back although I need to take a look. Maybe after the game.

Yea, in that motherboard you won't even be able to run 3 Way SLI! Look at the last PCIE slot, you will not be able to fit a double wide card there, there is not an extra PCI bracket under the motherboard.
