HI Experts,
I recently upgraded my TNT2 card to a cheap
GeForce4 MX 440 SE with TV-out and 64MB
SDRAM. I used to use the old driver 2xxx and
I now have upgraded to the lastest 4191. For
both driver the TNT2 card works fine in my
system but the new card crashes the system
when I attempt to shutdown X or do a VT switch.
The windows driver works fine, even shutting
down windows does not cause any problems to the system.
The xinerama feature of the card works unpredictablly on my system. When I set twinview on, sometimes both the CRT and TV have pictures, sometimes only CRT has the picture. When I turn twinview off and setup two screens in the XF86Config file, I can always get both CRT and TV to display.
Finally, the TV-out signal contains significant flikers. When the picture is too dark, the TV-out signal seems to be shut-off, the TV goes to complete blank. This also happens when only small portion of the screen is displaying bright pixals and other portion is close to black.
Will the next driver fix all of the above? When is it coming out? I really appreciate nvidia developping drivers for Linux, but please make it better! Tell your CEO: "we are linux user out there, and there will be more of us, especially in Asia(China, etc.) So put more people working on this, his homeland people will buy more of his card if it works with RedFlag Linux better!"
