Oh, I should also mention that I'm running 2GB DDR500 @ DDR500, with the CPU multiplier set to 10 (from 12)- so it is slightly oc'd at 2.5GHz (stock being 2.4). But still with your CPU you should still have a bit of an advantage.

I'm all for comparin'. I paid $900 for both of these and I want to be sure that some $700 card aint gonna' be too close to them in terms of performance.

Let's compare! :p :D
I'm not really into the mood for making comprasions hehe .. these days i'm concerned with other stuff that i'm not even playing my regular games :o

In lesser words:

You are like me and are too lazy to benchmark your own rig thus you want it done for you.

Remind me when I turn 21 and I'll buy you a beer! :p

Dude...your card is 160MHz/400MHz faster than mine...I'm not surprised in the least you got a higher score than me. :o

but you have 2 of them...

I would have like for you to have run the benchmarks with the CPU clock at 3.6gigs and the 8800GTS clocked at 625/1800 or the highest they would overclock with out any artifacts.Just so I could see how much of a difference that would have made since very few people run there system at stock.

I can't overclock on this board. The CPU gets up into the 70s at idle at even 3GHz and then starts throttling down to try and keep itself from melting. It's very odd and quite disheartening. :(

I dunno. :o

It looks great with 8x AA, 16xAF and 24-bit color from the in-game menus. :D

Are you using the stock cooler? Maybe a new HSF is in order if you want to OC any?

And as for your 3DMark scores- that is strange. That's about what my scores are, but I'm running a s754 3400. You should have far less of a CPU bottleneck than I do, thus your scores should be higher. That is a little strange.

Have you tried re-installing the HSF? Sounds like you are not getting good contact with the core. Could be the heatsink's base is concave or something and not letting you make good contact. There have even been some reports that the Core 2 chips are not flat enough to make good contact and required a little elbow grease to get good contact. Otherwise, I would agree with changing out the heatsink as there are several that work well. I am using the Freezer 7 Pro (relatively cheap compared to the other hi-perf cooling HSFs available) and although I had to notch the frame on the fan and bend the bottom fin up a little to clear the stock NB heatsink on the P5N-E the temps are staying <40C.
I plan to replace the NB heatsink with HR-05 SLI heatsink this coming week so I can have more clearance enabling a fan to be installed on the NB.

I would try a better HSF ,I use the Zalman 9500 and I have both the ASUS 650i SLI that was just $130 when I bought it and it overclocks great and my EVGA 680i overclocks good too just want go as high on the FSB as the 650i will. But that E6600 should not be getting that hot even with the stock cooler at 3gigs IMO ,Have you tried to reset it .I know some of the first batches of E6600 ran at a higher voltage at default then the later models ,Mine at default running at 2.4gigs is 1.18v.

I've reseated the HSF three times and the results have been the same. I know it's odd that the temps are so high. :(

The only thing that's changed is that the 3rd time I reseated, my temps at stock speeds went down about 10C (was idling at 42-44 and up to 60 when gaming or doing Prime95). But when pumping up to 3GHz, the temperature soars to 70+. My CPU's stock voltage is 1.35v.
