Yo!

I have trying to install Linux Redhat 8.0 but I have had several problems...

1. Setup cannot probe my monitor...which is rather common Samsung. Therefore it seems that the grafical installation does not start. The installation leads to black monitor and setup hangs.
2. I have genuine Nvidia Quadro 4 chipset in my grafics card which is PNY Quadro 4 550 XGL workstation solution for CAD softaware. Nvidia does supply drivers for Linux for this card also...so it should be qualified. However the installation finds the card as geforce MX...very strange.

Are quadro features unavailable in Linux? I really hope not!?!

Please tell what to do.

The installer doesn't use nVidia's drivers, since they are closed-source and therefore RedHat cannot supply the source for them. Since RH's distribution is (mostly) covered under the GPL, the only way to satisfy the GPL is for them to not include the binary driver. That's probably why it's detected as a GF4 MX.

The "nv" XFree86 driver that RH's setup will probably try to use will not work with your card, however. Make sure you tell the installer to use the "vesa" driver instead, then once you get it running in vesa mode, install the nVidia drivers and edit the config file (like the README says) to get them used.

As far as the monitor thing, I have no idea.
