So my westy is acting up (randomly shutting off) and well its not under warrenty because I didn't purchase it from an authorized dealer so Westy isn't covering it. So im looking to get a new TV, which one of these or around the same price would you recommend?

Well, after extended viewing tonight, I can no longer endorse that Sammy DLP. I was hanging out with my dad for a bit watching a few DVDs and HD DVDs and I could see RBE so bad I got a mild headache and even felt somewhat nauseous.
I can see it really bad, but apparently my dad can't see it at all. Get the LCoS. It's better technology anyway.

LCoS > DLP imo. Both are great tech though. Is the Samsung wobulated 1080p? Sony wouldn't approve Magus.

I got the Sammy DLP and I love it... got it at a decent price and so far movies look great... 480i sources look better than I was expecting... not great, and not as good as my old CRT HDTV... but pretty good considering.

Go to CC and check out the Samsung. You may not be sensitive to the rainbow effect. Most aren't.
That particular JVC model doesn't have an adjustable iris for controlling brightness.
I give the nod to the Sammmy. (I just picked up the Sony KDS-50A2000 yesterday from CC. Outstanding pic!) A little more $$ than the Sammy, but worth it.
BestBuy carries the JVC models if you wannna check 'em out.

Pfft, Im only a Sony ***** when it comes to consoles...
How you would rate the KDS-50A2000 against these? I want to hook up my PC to the TV and I know the A2000 has issues with that.
Neither. Get a Samsung LCD.

Stay away from Sony if using VGA. I honestly think they intentionally gimped it.

Not only is that a lower resolution and smaller then even my current tv but LCD usually don't display SD content that good and well most of my PS2 titles are SD aswell as I watch still many non HD shows on it.

hahaha
And I watched the Super Bowl on a rather large Mitsubishi DLP (61" perhaps?)...it was VERY nice. I liked it a lot more than the Sammy and I didn't notice RBE at all.

I have the 56 inch version of that TV, and I don't have any problems with it. I just got it Sunday, so I have not had the time to spend a lot of quality time with it, but I am nothing but happy with it so far.

Ah, all right. I think it's a great line of TVs...the PQ is awesome and everything, it's just that RBE that absolutely kills me.

yeah, its the same thing as being sensitive to refresh rates on old CRT monitors. Certain refresh rates gave some people, including me to some aspect, head aches.

Whats the price difference for a comparable model on the Mitsubishi?

Good point about the FA97. You'd definitely want the adjustable iris in the JVC or else they cannot be properly calibrated. Costco sells the FC97 series which does have the adjustable iris. It doesn't have the VGA port, but you don't want to use VGA with the JVC anyway since it is restricted to 640x480 and 1024x768. Using DVI-->HDMI is the only way to go with the JVC sets.

I was in a Best Buy and the sales rep told me that Sony buys their LCD panels from Samsung. I kind of have a tough time believing this, anyone else hear about this? Sorry if this is changing the subject, but it may help in your decision of which LCD to buy.

Sony and Samsung jointly manufacture the LCD panels that go into their flat panel sets. They combined their LCD patents in a cooperative manufacturing agreement some time ago.

Whats the price difference for a comparable model on the Mitsubishi?
Well at Circuit City the Samsung 50 inch you were asking about is on sale now for $1709 and the 52 inch WD-52631 Mitsubishi like I have is $2099 not on sale and the Mits 57 inch WD-Y57 is on sale for $2099. If you had asked a couple weeks ago The WD-52631 was $1799 and the WD-Y57 was $1899.
Now I would much rather buy at a local store like Circuit City, Best Buy etc. but if you want to go with Amazon the Samsung is $1399 and the Mits 52 inch is $1599.
Not sure why so many on here skip over the Mitsubishi's as they have a great reputation and are outstanding in picture quality and build.
