I got the Ultimate full version yesterday after camping outside the store for 10 plus hours overnight (thanks to my two Filipino domestic helpers taking turns, couldn't have done it without them). But I'm afraid of installing it now after hearing all the issues it has. Our government publicly said it's not gonna upgrade their systems to Vista for quite some time because of the issues. Should I dual boot, or just... I don't know.

I installed Ultimate 64bit on a pair of Xraptors virgin style and Ive had zero problems. Sure not everything works, but the things that havent worked are insignificant. I love the darn thing. Ive got XP on another set of Xraptors so I can boot into that if I need to. In 6 months or so when all the drivers are set and a service pack or three are out Ill probably reinstall Vista to those four drives raid0 and be done with it.

I'll help you out a little. You spend 10 hours waiting for this thing, and you going to let a few negative people on a forum talk you out of installing it? Think about it. ;)

I would install it on another HD, or try to do a dual boot. There might be a few things that aren't 100%, but overall it is working pretty good. It would only make sense that you would want to try it out for yourself.

No need to rush, it does have too much good things over XP.

Oh, wait till you buy more powerful laptop or desktop before doing so :P

DO A DUEL BOOT IF YOU DECIDE TO INSTALL IT!!!!! :) Im glad I did. I still have my XP Pro for being able to run great as always for my games.... and my Vista Business to dick around with untill they fix all the bugs and issues. Do NOT whipe your XP sector... you will regret it!

Since I've installed Vista, I haven't touched my XP install. Vista is far superior - the only problems are related to the Nvidia drivers (and especially SLI support). Everything else in your rig has good drivers ready to go, and one GTX is enough to run M2TW, BF2142 and NWN2, the games I'm currently playing, at 1920x1200.

Might as well install it if you got it. Personally I'm going to wait about a month or two. Driver/Game support for my creative x-fi is a little iffy right now. Since I haven't purchased it, I can wait. But on the flip side, I really like Vista (I've played with it while I was at CompUSA). If it weren't for driver issues, I would already have bought it.

Go for it. I dual booted for a week or so. Then I deleted the Win XP partition. ;)

I'm going to get it and install it on my laptop. I will wait on installing it on my game machine.

Dual boot is the safest way, for regular business machines it's very stable and works great. No stability issues in the O/S itself, most of my problems have been driver related.

I installed Vista Business at work and a copy of Ultimate on a second computer here (not mine). After using it for a while, it is nice, but the more I've been around it the less I'm anxious to dual boot my main system.

I intend to put 64-bit on my system for dual boot, but I can't even think of why I would boot into Vista on my system since I know a lot of my hardware doesn't have full support yet.. and without DX10, the only reason to go to Vista is to play around with the 3D and let the UAC bitch at me for not being an administrator ;)
