ages and ages ago, I bought an ABIT Siluro GeForce 3 Ti200 with 64MB of ddr-ram.
can anyone give me a valid reason for the lack of fastwrite and SBA support?

ABIT has answered me that this is because of some stability problems and for the compatibility with nVidia unified architecture.
this answer is not enough for me.
The last card I bought before this (GeForce 2 Titanium) did support fastwrite and never crashed for this in its life; and it was also compatible with standard drivers.

It's being reported as "not supported" at the card hardware level (aka in /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card)? If that's the case, then only Abit can tell you why, and it seems like they already have.

I, too, don't have any problems with either fast writes or SBA, but there are enough people that do to make the drivers disable them by default.

it's true that nVidia has given an architecture without the fastwrite support for the GF3 Ti200?
I don't understand only this.
As you have said, other cards support fastwrite, why not the GF3?
I'm thinking that they have cheated me!

It's not the GF3 that's lacking fast write support. It's Abit that has disabled it on your specific card.

It's a function of the card, not the graphics chipset (well... if the chipset doesn't support it then none of the cards can, but the GF3 chipset does).

Get a non-Abit GF3, and you should have support for it.
