Does anybody know if the 360 HD-DVD drive does TrueHD 2.0 through the 360's analog stereo output.

wtf is TrueHD 2.0? Are you meaning just L/R ?

TrueHD 2.0 is part of Dolby Labs lossless audio codec. Dolby TrueHD currently supports 8 channels of audio at up to 18 Mbps. I assume TrueHD 2.0 is referring to lossless 2 channel audio or he might be referring to compression ratio (2:0). The OP needs to elaborate on the question.

Edit: AFAIK the Xbox360 HD-DVD player does not offer Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD decoding. What the player can do is downconvert Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD to a high quality 1.5mbps Dolby Digital track.

2.0, meaning stereo output.

P.S. The terminology 2.0 isn't something new.

You cannot do the advanced sound encodings through the stereo rca jacks, you need to use the optical out.

When putting next to a "brand name" such as TrueHD it can imply a version number whcih TrueHD has.

Yeah, I wan't to know what TrueHD he means.

Infact, how the hell do you actually get TrueHD?

So many different variants of it knocking about.

Either via HD-A1/XA1/A2/A20/XA2 > HDMI > receiver for a digital connection or
via HD-XA1/XA2 > analog-out > receiver for analog

EDIT: From what I understand, TrueHD was designed with the thought that the player would do the actual sound decoding and send it to the receiver for playback as either LPCM or bitstream.

How do you know I haven't already checked Google?

Because if you had, you wouldn't be asking for a link "backing up" the fact that analog stereo outputs don't support Dolby TrueHD.

I asked for a link to back up the posters statement, because I don't think he knows what he's talking about. It seems you don't either so why are you posting in this thread?

Wow...the guy asking for help is suddenly the master on the topic he previously (and still currently) knows jack **** about. :rolleyes2

Here's an idea, show me a link that shows how one is able to get Dolby TrueHD via RCA. I'm dying to see this.

If I could show you a link showing that you could do it why would I be in here asking? You seem to be easily confused, so go away.

But you already checked Google and are the master as you said in your last post. Remember?

So please. Elaborate.

If you have Toshiba HD-DVD player prior to the 2.0 firmware or are not using a multi-channel reciever you could. Whether or not you can with the 360's analog stereo outputs still remains to be seen.
