I was tempted to put this in the rumor location, but I have a strong feeling that this is no rumor:

However unlike some other stores I am not so anal regarding launch dates and NDA's, when such information is already on the web. So yes we do already have stock of 320MB 8800 GTS from BFG, their card is overclocked, the price is very low and you can buy them on the 12th. OcUK won't run out of stock and feel free to pop even into our shop on the 12th to collect one. NVIDIA consider us a great partner as our high-end VGA sales outmatch any other Etailors. Other Etailors beat us on low-end and match or beat us slightly on mid-range but when it comes to revenue we do the most.

This would very well correspond to use of an 8800 in the middle slot for physics on a 680i motherboard. I don't know just personal opinion.:D

Available on the 12th.

I would say that is accurate for sure. Just another way for Nvidia to expand the mid range market that desires DX10.:)

It wont just be the memory, the will probably clock everything down also.

It still should be easy to overclock even if they make it slower unless they use some really bad memory .

That looks like a pound sign to me, not dollars. 200 = $391.5

Then again it's rip-off UK, so it'll probably be the same in $! :)
Just checked the price in Germany and it's around 300€, the cheapest one goes for 289€ so it's about the same.

Whenever you're trying to determine what something's value in GBP is when converted to USD, just double it. It's not quite that high, but it's a good ballpark and it's better to guess high than low when it comes to guaging cost.

The 8800 GTS 320MB looks like a great buy, maybe even better than the 7900GTO! Still, there will come a time when the extra memory will come in handy.

Yeah I'm thinking 320Mb will severely hamper a card of this speed in some situations. Games have been taking advantage of 512Mb cards for years, and its only going to get more common with the release of DirectX 10 era games. This thing will be more than fast enough to play new games but I think performance will drop off unexpectedly when it runs out of memory.

If its cheap though, why not? It'll probably be an awesome card if you're not too worried about super high resolutions and AA.

Yea, 320MB is great now, but in the future you may be limited on the texture resolution...
