I am on the verge of abandoning Vista Ultimate 64-bit after days of trying to get my Geforce 8800 GTS (100.59 drivers) and my Hauppauge Win TV-PVR 500 tuner to run Media Center without garbling display and locking up. So far i have tried 3 different Hauppauge drivers and no matter what I do, the darn thing simply will not work. Also my Xbox 360 will not run live tv without cerrors (breaks up picture, looks horrible). Drivers will work with 32-bit vista and Media Center will even run windowed after disabling Aero.

Have anyone found a solution for the above mentioned combination of hardware? I really do not want to have to install Vista 32-bit as I will not be able to use my 4 gb. ram fully.

what are you doing with 4gb of ram anyway?

I wouldn't touch 64b with a 10-foot pool for media center duty

ya, i have to agree with this statement. i have tried soooo many times to get orb/beyondtv/hauppage to work on win64, to no avail. i would go back to win32 if i was you or just dual boot if its that important.

Maybe this is 8800-related (drivers)? I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 w/ 2 6600GTs using 100.59 and the latest PVR-500 drivers (6.0.6000.16408) from Windows Update.

I'm also using the default MS MPEG-2 codec. Are you using any third-party codecs?

Thanks for a constructive reply.

I've come to the same conclusion. It's not the PVR-500 drivers from Hauppauge, but the NVIDIA drivers that seem to be the cause of the problems. Im running the default codecs too. Tried a few others that did not solve the problem.

I've had to install 32-bit Vista while i wait for some working NVIDIA drivers.
