It's not certain but I might go all out and soon get the 2407 even though it's pricey. The thing is I only have a lowly 7800GTX right now and I am not sure how it's going to handle the high res gaming... Even if I play at 1680 res. I probly will eventually get a more up to date powerful gfx card but if I get this monitor the card will have to wait a while, so I am hoping my current card will last. I mean I will not be playing any high end games any time soon (until crysis). The only game coming soon that I want to enjoy to it's fullest and at a good res is STALKER which I know is not that demanding so I hope I will at least be able to run that at 1920x1200...

Advice?

Oh and of course opinions on the monitor would be appreciated :)

I bought my 2407 when I still used an X1900XT. I was worried about game performance too, but it really wasn't that bad. Oblivion ran fine w/o AA or AF; Fear was probably the worst. X1900XT > 7800GTX but I would say you should have decent frame rates. The newer the game the less AA/AF.

Go for it. I don't have the monitor personally but I have seen it and seen it useed in gaming and it simply rocks.

I've got one and it is AMAZING! It's a A03 revision (which is what you'll get probably...although there have been some A04's spotted). Mine is flawless. Well...in my eyes anyways. No dead pixels, backlight is perfectly uniform, colour is great! I'm running it with 2 7800GTX's in SLI so my performance will be better than yours...but if you run with minimal anti aliasing (2x or 0x) then performance should be ok.

I like this monitor a lot as well. The only thing that it could be better with is it tears a little because of the 16ms response. There are only a few things were I need to vsync, as most of the time it doesn't bother.

I think you shouldn't have a problem with most games @ 1680 x 1050. You may not be able to run AA and AF, but the high res will help make up for it. It is a good investment, and you can probably get another card at a later time if you need too.

Google says buy.com and pcsuperstore.com http://www.google.com/search?q=+samsung+305t+lcd+monitor&rls=com.microsoft:*&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

Runs about $1500.

EDIT: Sorry, neither are in stock though.

I have a A04 that was built in January of 07 and love it ! Go for it,you will not be disapointed at all ! Gaming should be fine,as long as you dont try to run with AA on anything put out in the last year at native res.You might be able to get away with 2x AA in Doom 3 and Farcry though,at native.Second best piece of hardware I own/have ever bought is my A04,first is my GTS :D Hit up Ebay, and grab a few stacking coupons before you buy it,as they will help out.

Set your games up for 1280x800, your one 7800gtx will handle it no problem and with some AA and AF it will look great, even without AA it looks good but there are jaggies.

But many games will play fine at its native 1920x1200 resolution.

Where do you live?

I ordered as late of 01/24/07 and still recieved a A03 which bums me out because of the scaling issues. I was promised an A04 through Dells sales but we all know how that goes. Other then that the monitor is great though I may still return this becasue of the issues with scaling.

Anyone know something about 2407WFP-HC?

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/tree?treeid=247E91DF356F6DBEE040A68F5B282C2A&c=us&l=en&s=gen

Is listed in dell's page and I suppose it is like the 3070WFP-HC
(90% color gamut)

But I could find anything more about it (anything readable)

Yeah I will probably be getting it then, maybe next month. I will have to grab an 8800GTX as soon as possible cause I am gonna be miserable with my 7800...

By the way how does the 2407 cope with lower (non-native) resolutions? Example 1680x1050, 1280x1024...

I'm considering the 2407WFP too! esp after reading the article @dvhardware , but i'm worried about the streaking/ghosting issues reported there & i'm a guy who does pay attention to these stuff & such issues might annoy me.

so what can you guys say to encourage me to buy it ?

right now i have a 19" CRT & i play all my games (or most of 'em) @ 1600x1200,4xAA,16xHQAF . i have a 8800GTX.

I have an A03 :( But its still a fantastic monitor! I thought I would have a hard time coming from a CRT, but in all honesty, I can't believe I waited this long!

I have considered the Dell, Gateway and others. I'm getting this one instead. It's listed for $800. I sure like it anyway.

Thats no hijacking Tiki .. actually its great info :)
Problem is the Dell is ~$650!!! ... i wanted the switch from the CRT to the LCD to be as cheap as possible since its my start with the WS LCD's. if i'm convinced i might later go for the more expensive ones.

also , my friend is already ordering the Dell 2407 for himself & thats why i'm considering it so we order 2 of them for us.

in anyways i'll look into the BenQ & let my friend know about it .. he want the monitor for movies/general usage & i want it for games only.
with the $150 difference between the 2 monitors i'm really leaning more toward the Dell :o

Ottawa Canada :) I did not actually purchase the screen,I had a friend do it,who works for Dell Canada.I got it pretty cheap (under 650 Cdn. with the 5 year advanced exchange warranty, delivered) It fully supports 1080 i AND p,as well as having a slightly better functioning stand, and less banding. And the A04's,well some of them anyway, use S-IPS panels
,most are S-PVA type though.
