This is the only thing I am worried about is the power consumption, I just have this sneaking suspicion ill end up getting a 8800GTX in the end. I think both teams have good cards just what will the trade off's be. I am growing tired of waiting.

Not only that, but means that it'll be ok to release even more power hungry video cards in the future as well,at least when it comes to the extreme high end versions.....

I know that a lot can argue that with the next step of Fab processes being available later this year to GPU makers(65 nm).next generation cards using that fab process will use less power, but i think that it's a given they'll rather take that new fab process and add even more transistors, and taking the same die size that the currently R600 and G80 GPU's have(400+ sq mm),i wouldn't be a bit surprised if those upcoming GPU's at 65 nm,pack not far off 1 billion transistors and are clocked even higher still,so any savings from the 65 nm chips themselves using lower voltages doesn't have any advantage in terms of power savings.....They'll likely go up now that there's 300 watts to play with with high end PSU's.

Well I'm sure the manufacturers know this too. The current rate at which the power envelopes are escalating is unsustainable.

If it's true...well then it's bad news...

Not really surprised at all, maybe they found a very nasty bug at the last min before full production or they have a problem with production possible due to poor yield. If it wasnt anything to do production, it has to be the driver.

Too bad. I really want to see what R600 is all about.

Well, I bet this last delay was the last damn straw for those waiting, even the die hard fanATIcs. They'll probably run out and get an 8800 as fast as they can. :p

That's a long delay for a bug fix and a respin or to improve yields. They shouldn't even be having yield problems because they're using a process that is pretty well shaken out already.

I suspect that R600 performance is still not up to par with the 8800 and that's what has been causing the delays all along. I think NVIDIA really threw a wrench into ATi's plans when they released the 8800 and it was such a beast.
