Hello all,

i upgraded from 7800gtx (BFG) to XFX 8800GTS about a month ago.
Occasionally (about 1 in 30 starts) i get no display but the computer seems to start normally. I get the fdd clicking sound (boot 'noise' from the intel board) and then hdd activity and finally the audio cue of windows starting up.

All this time there is no display. the other wierd thing is that the fan on the card seems to spin at 100% or there abouts (from the very start).

The card has it's original bios and is oc'd using riva tuner. I dont think it's an oc issue as the clocks only set in once windows starts.

Specs are as given in the sig
PSU=Enermax liberty 400Watts.

I have to turn the computer off and then on again to solve this issue.
Apart from this there arent any issues while running games (like CTD's, BSods)

any idea what is going on.

regards
ali

400W that seems to be too low, try at least 600W:afro:

Though I do agree that the PSU seems to be a bit low... I wouldn't say that is the culprit quite yet. What driver version and which Windows (Vista or XP) are you using?

Using Win XP V97.92
i thought that the psu would be the culprit. i have another enermax 550watt psu in another machine. i'll give that ago if nothing else comes up

i had the same issue as you with my first 8800 gtx. it turned out to be my power supply failing. i swapped it and hav never had the issue again.
