The Geforce 8950 GX2 is a dual-chip card based on a new 80 nanometre G80 chip, probably codenamed something else. Both GX2 GPUs are clocked at 550MHz and the difference is GDDR4. The card comes with 2x512MB of 256-bit GDDR4 memory clocked at 2000MHz. The card has 96 Shaders, per chip. It will be priced at $600.

The second in Nvidia's spring line-up is the Geforce 8900 GTX clocked at 700MHz GPU and 2200MHz memory. The chip still has a 384-bit memory interface and comes with 768MB of memory. The card uses a new 80 nanometre chip and has 128 Shaders.

This is no rumor.;) But if a mod feels this needs to be moved to the rumor section go ahead.:D

Apparently that is a fake. But who nows.

The exact same list came out last year with the 7950 GX2. My bet is this is no fake.;)

With the current state of the drivers... they'd need to include a free car or something before I'd buy NV again anytime soon. I would rather chance ATI's Catalyst team and DX10 driver support before I bought another NV product. But you go ahead - give Nvidia more cash for NON Vista Ready products.

Let's just hope Quad will work better this time...

Same thing I was thinking. Let us hope that Quad really works better this time.:D

 What kind of power is gonna be needed for Quad .. You need like 800W for Sli just now =(

1KW FTW! The PSU makers are going to get more rich.:D

he, quad will require atleast 1k PSU... perhaps 2kw(cringes), OWCH.

At least the 80nm process will help with heat.:D

Dunno why but i have the feeling that whenever i see Chinese letters involved , the info must be legit.

IMO Fuad from the INQ has been correct 95% of the time when it comes to GPU releases and info. Other stories from the INQ may not always be right, but graphics news...well I usually take there word for it.:D

It's awesome that MikeC put a link to this thread on the Homepage under News and Articles for today.:D

I have 4 weeks before I have enough money for my CPU and Memory. So I'm thinking I will either step-up my 8800 GTX SLI setup to 8900 GTX cards or maybe sell them on eBay. I will have to figure this out anyway.

My step-up expires May 5th. I hope we have some firm release dates soon.:D

UT2007 this Summer and Crysis this Fall of course.:D

Sure other DX10 cards could play these games, but I'm talking about 1920x1200 res plus max settings. (nana2)

It's just to have the best. It's fun if you have the cash. But as far as any game that NEEDS it I'm with you on that what the heck needs that type of power. New hardware is great to tinker with. Actually if you sell off your present upto date stuff to buy tomorrows tech it's more cost effective.

SO the big question is WHEN the 8900 series is going to be released

In Summer ??

My guess is late March...or Sometime in April.

Nothing would be more of a :nutkick: to AMD/ATI with R600 than this. Just my opinion anyway.

Cebit March 15-21 anyone.:naughty: Or Cebit in Australia May 1-3.

Look to the Big Tech Tradeshows. Nvidia loves to release their products at these times because of the fantatsic press they get.

I'm looking at the stats between the 8900 GS and the 8900 GT, I can get the GS @ 512 memory, both are 80 nm process, both have DDR3, same shader count and same memory interface. Only difference is that the GS is clocked slightly lower clock speeds (which probably can be overclocked unless the memory ratings really are that much worse) for $100 less (+33% price for 50 core/200 mem).

Why the hell would I buy the GT?

:headexplode: GJ Nvidia... :headexplode:

Thats soon.. :wtf:
A little difficult to believe that but if that happens then i will buy a 8900GTX instead of a X2800

I just hope Nvidia create better drivers until then

I think you should look at the chart again. Almost every part of the 8900GS and 8900GTS is different. :headexplode:

maybe because one has 96 shaders and a 256 bit bus and the other has 128 shaders and a 320 bits bus?

my deciding factor around march/april will be the driver

nvidia driver quality has dropped, lets see if they will be able to raise the quality before R600 launch

i had 3 ati cards, then i had 3 nvidia cards, maybe its time to go back?
