New Game Suggestions

Hello,

New to the forum and I need some advice on games as I do not get much time to research whats out there. I have been playing WOW for several months and have grown a little tired of it and need a break. I like the online experience and have been a fan of RPG's for quite a while. I am wondering if there are similar games where you can keep building your character and there is no true "end game". I downloaded a trial version of Eve-Online because the description sounded like a high-tech version of my favorite game growing up - Master of Orion. Is this that type of game or would something like Final Fantasy, Guild Wars etc. be a better choice? (The story settings don't really bother me - space, fantasy, etc)

Eve is awesome, but a little hardcore. Most people get turned off by the fact that as of now your "character" is mostly whatever ship you happen to be flying and that's about it. On the other hand, there's really no other MMO quite like it since all the players are on a single server and their actions really can change things. So it's dynamic and not just a few thousand people all doing the same "kill foozle" quest at the same time that doesn't mean anything (not that killing stuff isn't fun).

All that alone makes it deeper and a more continuous experience that always has more interesting stuff going on than other MMO's as long as you can get into it in the first place.

First of all, I'm biased... I love EVE, I've been playing for years. But it sounds exactly like what you're looking for. There's no "Final Boss", players control and define gameplay, especially in that their corps and alliances are free to form their own political standings.

A small warning... it CAN take a while to get into the game, and it can be a little lonely. Get involved with a corp or some friends early.
