I was doing some playing around with Vista on some older stuff, like an AMD Athlon 1667MHZ with Geforce 4 4600 and a gig of ram.

Im not impressed at all how this does with older hardware, man it isn't that great at all.

This OS needs at least 2.4GHZ with 1 or more ram and definatly 2 cores.

Granted this board has an ISA slot and didn't even pich up the netgrear nic card or sblive. wow Xp has more built in drivers over vista.

The OS needs a user-base gullible enough to install and too ignorant to know there's better options out there. It's a sad day when XP is more stable and usable than the latest unholy incarnation of Microsoft's newest Operation System. I imagine that 98% of their buget was spent on marketing and collusion with OEMs and game developers.

It's got DX10, whooooooot!. I just installed ten awesome DX10 games; oh wait, no I didn't.

Microsoft and Sony need to merge.

I'm going to abduct you and torture you using the startup music from all of the versions of Windows in an upbeat-polka medley remix.

I downloaded that remix from soulseek. It's pretty tight.

I put it on when I'm partying.

You guys must suck installing windows

I have installed windows vista on 4 totally different pcs and one of them is a laptop which I am typing on now. Everything function as it should and its loads better than xp

Its more responsive, faster and better features. Like the mobilcenter I dont know how I could live without it on my laptop

You must refine that to people that actually have problems doing so. Saying "you guys" group all people together, and that would only be followed up with me calling you on your bs.

:wtf:

You expected it to run great on 4 year old hardware? Are you insane? And Vista has WAY more built in drivers btw...not sure what you're talking about there...

I quote:
Windows Vista has more drivers built-in at launch than any previous version Windows - 19,500 in fact!

Another 11,500 will be waiting via Windows Update too...

In contrast, Windows XP only had 10,000 drivers on its CD, with only 2000 on the Windows Update service, so this is a major improvement.

Don't know where you coming from with this statement...Vista is perfectly stable for me. Something I can't say for XP...and I'm only running RC2...and it runs faster....(by faster I mean it feels more responsive). I'm kinda getting sick of your constant Vista bashing in every single vista thread...

I have installed Vista probably a dozen times already, and finally got a quad boot pc on a raid array last night. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing. ;)

@T3h Bigman: I'm suprised it is running bad for you, I've had it loaded on a P4 1.6 1 gig and it seemed to be doing good. It obviously isn't going to make it as fast as my rig, but in comparision to xp it was just as fast. Make sure you turn off system restore and a few of the other things you don't need. That alone will make it run better.

Because of testing silly. I've installed it on several different pcs, installed beta 2, RC 1, RC 2, rtm. I made sure everything was cool before I got it onto my array. Someone needs to lay off the vista bashing for a little bit. :headexplode:

Vista, what a fine example of programming.
Microsoft programmers can't even even write a bunch of slideshows for DX9 hardware!!
ie I have a machine with DX9 hardware that could play Doom3, Quake4, Prey and HL2 ( downgrading to Vista was not my choice, it's actually a work machine ) but M$ disabled all but the basic slideshow because my Gfx card only scores 2.9 on their stupid scale!!!
id software can renderer a 3d full scene with realtime lighting, bump maps etc and M$ can't even scroll a jpg across the screen in an interesting way!!

M$ should stick to what they know best, patching holes in XP and IE and not bother trying to write any more versions Windows, if this is the best they can do after all those years of development.
M$ = The only software house that can release a product late, with half the original promised features and requires twice the resources of the previous run just to run - AND still people pay good money for it!!
Ignorance is bliss - this explains the happy Vista users!

*sigh* Here we go again. If you are so unhappy about something, why do you continually spend your money? Ok, I can understand your work machine, but I mean, why would you buy something that you are continually displease with? Let alone, why do you continue to gripe and and moan about something you can't control?

I guess that's why you're not in Redmond leading them, right?

This is a fan site...if you really want to make a difference, why not write a letter to MS and tell them your feeling? Or are you afraid they will treat you like a troll and ignore you like most of us here will?

On the real eg, you do it with taste, and you always make good points. The majority of these people that are flaming are just trolls and will hop onto the next fan site to spread their ilk.

I get the WOW feeling that Microsoft spread in their commercials, but I uninstalled Vista for at least 2 or 3 months because the lack of drivers that aren´t in beta stage and some compatibility probs with some of my hardware, but this is the life of an early adopter, if you dislike so much Vista and microsoft go buy a Mac (gay) or install Linux instead, but don´t come to a fan site to cry and spread your "words of wisdom"

Hang-on, this is an Nvidia fan-site; I'm running Nvidia hardware on Linux. Nvidia supports it's hardware products on Linux. This is a 'Fista thread we're crapping in though.

Yes, you´re right, I run Gentoo on my other PC with a Geforce 7900GT but the thing is I´m tired of see a lot of "newcomers" crying about 8800 performance, Vista Drivers, XP drivers.... etc.
