I have been wondering where is the cheapest place to get an FX60 right now?
Pops cpu died and i told him he can have my opty if he'll buy me an FX.
He gave me the okay, so now I gotta find one..Preferably retail for the warranty, but i don't mind getting an OEM.

Just buy it from Newegg. They might not be the cheapest, but fast order processing and good customer service is always worth the additional cost.

Actually, I just got me self an Opty 185 from teh egg for ~$365 shipped. The Opty185 and FX-60 are identical except for two things:

1.)FX-60 uses 2000Mhz HT link
*Opty 185 uses 1000MHz HT link, though could probably run at 2000 no problem

2.)FX-60 has unlocked multipliers
*Opty 185 does not

Other than that they are identical. I'd either go for the FX-60 from TD as they have some awesome deals- if not get the Opty 185 from teh Egg:

Yeah i've thought about getting an opty, but the locked multi is the reason i won't be picking it up.
I looked through newegg yesterday and didn't see an FX60 on their site (odd) maybe I didn't look good enough.
If I do get an FX, i just want to hit "only" 3Ghz on air.

Check the for sale thread. I'm pretty sure there are a few of em for sale in there.

Tigerdirect is pretty cheap bundled with the Vista OEM. You can also get them on Ebay for $330-$360.

Newegg was last advertising them for $550. Newegg is reliable and has great customer service, but that doesn't mean you should spend $550 for an FX-60.

(Of course, they were $1,000+ just last year, before C2D! :headexplode: )

The Opty should hit 3GHz on air without a problem.

I just got my Opty185 yesterday, and I placed the order for my new mobo just a little bit ago. I'll post my OC results as soon as I can. My goal is to hit no less than 3GHz- come hell or high water! :p If I can get to 3.2GHz I'll be really happy. :D

I'll keep you updated as to how it works. Oh, and the FX-60 should still be listed...

No FX-60. :( I remember not that long ago they were selling the FX-60 for only $460. I was determined to pick one up for that price- and then come about 3 weeks ago the price just kept climbing untill it got to like $550. I'm betting their stock just got lesser and lesser. If they get another shipment in it very well might be for cheap again.

Anyhow, good luck with what ever you chose. Again, I've very confident that the Opty185 will hit 3GHz on air. It also depends on you mobo, cooling, and ram as to how great an OC you can achieve.

Best of luck to ya' dude. ;)
