Preferably free, and no bloat. I hate nero. SO much bloat. I just want to be able to burn an iso image to either a CD or DVD.
XP or Vista?
EDIT: Actually, I don't think it matters.

Both from Iso recorder. It is basically a plugin for the built in recording to burn Isos. It is MS recommened right in technet to burn the downloaded iso's with. http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

This ISO recorder crap does not work. There are no options in the context sensitive right click menu after I install it.

nm ISO recorder works great. Is exactly what I was looking for. I was an idiot and didn't realize my ISO file was really a .zip file.

ultra iso works fine in vista, same with alcohol 120%
both are my favorite burning programs, alcohol for just burning, ultra iso for modifying/converting images (hell it even does floppy images - along with clonecd, alcohol, iso, nero, etc)
oh, and ultra iso has support for bootable UDF images for dvd - meaning you can modify your vista instilations

I always use alcohol 120%.. not sure if it works within vista, though.
and technically it's not free, but why would I pay for a program that I use to burn my pirated games with?
Nero, there is no BLOAT if you are smart enough to do a custom install.

I actually purchased Nero for Linux for $19.99 because I think it's the best CD/DVD burning program out there; I actually prefer it over the GNU GnomeBaker application. Nero for Linux drives like Nero 6; I agree Nero 7 is shovelware.
ImgBurn is free and works well, no bloat whatsoever.

Nero 7 is okay if you get rid of all the wizard BS. The setup of 6 is much nicer for advanced users, but I'm sure 7 was designed to be more user friendly. Hopefully 8 will solve that, and maybe add in HD-DVD + Blu ray support.

Minor oversight. :) I'm guessing your probably using winrar or something similar and they all have the same icons. I've had trouble finding ISO's because I wasn't looking for the winrar icon.

I recommend you to use magiciso to burn iso file to cd or dvd. It works very well.

I just used this for the first time to burn a DVD video that I created under Adobe Premiere Elements.. From my desktop, rendered to DVD folders.. copied the folders to my laptop, and use imgburn to burn the DVD folders direct to a DVD.. which is playing in my stand alone DVD player right now.
Nice!

DVD Decrypter is the best for burning ISOs. It's free, and works great in Vista.

Perhaps you didn't realize, but ImgBurn is actually a much more updated version of DVD Decrypter's ISO creation/burning part. It is even developed by the same author.
