Anyone have the inside track? It appears that way from the pricing sheets I've seen for the 8900's on this forum. I'm curious because I have an 8800GTS with 60 days left to step up, and if the MSRP for the 8800GTX drops, it would future proof my system for a while (I hope).

I got the GTS because I had a AMD 4200+ at the time, but now that I have the e6600, I am getting a lot more performance.

From what I have heard $449 on the 8800 GTX and $399 on the 8800 GTS.

Well I hope you're right... I bought the 8800GTS for $414, so it would be nice to only have to pay shipping and $35 for the GTX on my stepup!

EVGA is going to get swamped with the stepups when the 89's come out. I wonder if they will handle it...

I wouldn't be surprised it the 8800gtx disappears from the retail/e-tail chain altogether after the 8900 launch. Although it may take a month or two.

I'm sure that it will eventually.

Yeah but it seems like rumors are pointing to a dual existence of both 8800gtx and 8900gtx being manufactured at the same time. the only way I could see this happening is if the memory for the 8900gtx is in short supply. This may be the case because both the R600 and 8900 will need it. Samsung usually ramps up pretty fast though.

I think the 8800's will remain for awhile. Think of those that want to go Sli later on for instance, not to mention it is cheaper!
