Well I believe its the heat issue for mine then because. It only crashes when I have the fan turned on low and im running high graphic applications.

You can get it from the Windows update.
Not every Ultimate user just yet, I still have to wait for it :)
Dutch OS
with 100.64 and updated Vista codec pack installed I no longer get the error with dreamscape.

101.41 started therror on some of the dreams again. I can't wait till something actually works right. Maybe ATI will have better luck with this.

Them drivers actually fixed my DreamScene errors. I don't use them other codec at all.

When running SecondLife First Look with 101.41 the nvlddmkm error is happening almost constantly now (every 1-2 seconds after running SecondLife First Look). This happened very rarely with 100.65 (once every 2-3 weeks) and never with 100.54.
EDIT: I uninstalled nTune, this seems to have fixed the issues.
EDIT2: Nevermind, that didn't solve the issue, it just decreased the frequency. Going back to 100.65.

The Supreme Commander demo just bombed out and the driver gave me that error on a 8800 GTX / A8N-E. Then again, that's once out of quite a few hours play so far.
I don't think there's anything special about the error. It's just the catch all driver restart message for when "something" goes wrong. There's not necessarily one bug contributing to it.
101.41 caused this error constantly in PowerDVD Ultra watching HD DVDs, went back to 100.65 to solve the problem.

Yep I have this problem too, already reported to Nvidia? :)

I just reported it to nVIDIA. Happens when watching Blu-Ray as well.

Reported the problem aswell
The more people replying to this thread one thing is becoming pretty consistant, 90%+ are 8 series owners, and of thoose roughly 70% are using 680i chipset based boards.

yeah, but I guess it's still a driver problem, cause Intel chipsets have also those problem
and ur percentage speaks about roughly 80% and 70%, so this is not likely a hardware problem, but a driver problem...
Cause read there is no problem with 100.65 WHQL

I've only gotten it once. And thats after I left my PC on doing nothing but running Bit torrent all day.

I'm beginning to suspect that my issues were more related to lack of enough power to the card. After getting fed up with not being able to pinpoint one activity in particular that caused the error to come up, I went to rearrange all the cables in my case in case it was a heating issue and found that the AUX power to my motherboard had come unplugged. Since plugging it back in and plugging my 8800 into the right plugs (it's a modular PSU apparently the first 2 are meant to be used for SLi/GPU when I had it plugged into the 3rd and 4th plugs.) I haven't had the error happen again. The only issue I've had since then was that Vista froze all together (no error, no flickering screen, no mouse movement), but I suspect that this is related to CPU overclocking/heat issues rather than anything wrong with the GPU. It'd be nice if the error was a little more descriptive as to what actually caused it though. :)

Was getting the nvlddmkm error when playing WoW with the 101.41 drivers. Switched back to 100.65, all is fine.

I get it with PDVD7, when Hardware Accel. is enabled and the 101.41. Doesn't happen when it's disabled or with the 100.65s.

I knew it was a driver problem from the time I saw it. i mean if it crashes like that it's not goign to be a hardware issue. I suppose I'll live with it for another month or so till they deliver the updated drivers.

I'm also getting this error with the 101.41 drivers. Upon any usage of any 3d apps or even watching videos. The 3d alt-tab also causes the error. There is something I noticed though. With these drivers, my memory usage in Vista is very high. Up to about 60-70% continuously even with nothing running only the OS. With previous drivers, that ram usage hovered around 40% idle.
I'm running Vista 64bit.

Don't forget to send them a bugreport :)

Same.
Try dropping your memory timings. This fixed the problem for all 4 8800 vista systems I built for people and, when tightening up my memory timings it caused the problem to occur. It has something to do with Vista sharing system memory with the video....I think.

even with my memory running below spec and completely "normal" timings the problem persists. Back to XP I guess

Bah. I'll survive a month with it.
