View Full Version : Nvlddmkm stopped responding is getting VERY OLD...
:thumbdwn: Its back. That crappy error, again!!!
I was playing Turok a while, like 5-10 mins into the game. Then i met a bad guy who was gonna shot at me, when a friendly shot him.
When the badguy falls to the ground in a movie sequence, the game stops with the error. No matter what setting i use in graphics. Always when he falls.
Guess the driver cant keep up with rapid changes in that close of view.
Using currently the beta 175.12 driver. Had this problem with all drivers. What shall i do??
Anyone with this problem solved it somehow???
Im using a driver cleaner, and going into safemode to clean more and install. Same problem what ever i do...
Help!! I wanna play Turok past that falling scene without errors!!!
did you updated vista?
Updated yes. SP1 installed and recommended hotfixes from Windows and Nvidia . Still haunts me, since february last year.. :(

have you try it with a clean install and no updates
turn update off see if thats helps
its help sometimes
Going to try a fresh 32bits Vista install, see if that helps. But i cant even play World in conflict. Neither on Vista or XP 64bits.. :thumbdwn:
Its either my combo of hardware or the 8800 GTX and Ultras are plauged with a faulty bios or something.
Drooling on the new 9800GX2, but maybe wait for 200GTX or any of those.
Do 9xxx series have nvlddmkm error???
 Anyone??

I can't play World in Conflict as well. Also it rarely happens with AC as well. Something is crappy going with Nvidia drivers and Vista. There are only two games i'm getting nvlddmkm stopped responding with and that's AC and World in Conflict. Btw i think this is Vista problem, cause Vista is a such crap that any app can easily go into not responding crap since Vista is retarded.

one of the common causes (But not for everyone, so dont start flaming me) is a faulty OC or unstable system.
Just because the NV driver gave the error doesnt mean its the CAUSE of the error - dreamscene caused me crashes for ages, and an update to dreamscene fixed that. Some other people i know had constant issues and blamed Nvidia, but it was all to do with his systems ram having a bad stick in the end.
so a lot of these results would be people with unstsable systems sending 5-10 reports a week evert time it crashes out a game, without the drivers being the actual CASE.
So 100s of people have bad memory...sell that crappy story to somebody else. Here is the problem Microsoft (Vista) and Nvidia (drivers) and they need to sort the crap out.

I think by disabling UAC and Superfetch it might help or fix problem. I can recreate not responding message for any app under Vista. It's the biggest pile of **** i have seen in my life and paid $400 for it. :thumbdwn:

I've had UAC disabled from day one, two different systems, and never had the error. Might be true.

I disabled UAC and it fixed my issue with AC :afraid:
Not getting this Nvlddmkm crap, but game crashes once in while. Event viewer error says that assassian_creed_dx10.exe file was faulty/not responding.
Vista is crap. I suppose next step is to disable DEP. I think that stupid crap is an issue too.

You know after tons/tons/tons of re-installs and driver updates.
I don't know what I did, if anything but my computer doesn't get these anymore (knock on wood)
I removed all drives but one (raptor) and dd'd the drive, I Installed Vista 64bit SP1.
And now I don't get any of the "driver stopped responding" anymore, only thing I get now is the graphical corruption bug that is found on the 780i chipsets.
But I can "finally" play crysis + wow for more than 10 minutes without hard locks.
Now to find out how to stop, fix the issue with the 780i board because once it that bug happens, I have to reboot my computer and come back to it in like 10~20minutes.
And for those who might think its my GX2, this issue happens with a 9800GTX, 8800GTX, 7600, 6200, and a 8800GT (i have lots of friends :) )

Never had issue with nvlddmkm except in AC and World in Conflict. It's really weird, since this not really consistent among different machines. It looks like something else is causing this but nobody was able to figure it out.
UAC - DEP - Superfetch (something is not right here). Nvlddmkm issue i don't get with Windows 2008 Server, neither with Windows XP x64. It's funny that Windows 2008 Server propertly enables SLI by not giving you shut down window when you do so. I mean a lot of weird issues Vista has and Server 2008 don't have.

Completely agree with you there, I have another Vista64 bit righ (amd/ati3870x2) and I never experienced this issue with it. My dad's amd box never has this issue with (8800GTS G92), and neither do our Laptops (mine specs below, and his m9750). I dunno man, wonder if this "bug" will ever be fixed across all spectrums.

If the same thing starts happening with GTX280, hmm that's not gonna be nice.

this happens sometimes randomly while on the desktop, and happens all the time when playing dvds in powerdvd 7.3
tried reinstalling drivers, everything...
Done installing 32bits vista. World in conflict runs great, everything maxed in settings. No hardlocks. No nvlddmkm errors. Something is fishy about the 64bits drivers. :(
Tried also disabling UAC on 64bits. Same error, and lockup. That doesnt help. :thumbdwn:
Could be codec packs, dunno. Anyone using em?
Maybe gonna try a fresh install 64bits see if the troubles go away. Dont know where to start. But so far the 32 is going on strong... :captnkill:

I never got the error in Vista 32-bit.... get it all the time in 64-bit.
I have 32-bit Vista & i get the error sometimes. i dont think its 64-bit specific issue.
At this point, I am sure Nvidia installed this as a "feature" to prevent us from hurting ourselves by gaming too much :afro:
Has happened to me in both 32 and 64 bit Vista.

I was getting so pissed at this problem. I could only play certain games while others gave me this error. I set my clocks back to default and all my games work perfect.
