Mine does too. :| I mean I can burn myself if I touch anything on it thats made of metal.
What are your temps? That could be a big part of all your games crashing. Tried a house fan blowing in on your card while playing yet?

well, I turned the graphics cooler for my case on and it dropped my gpu's idle to 54C...

so heat is not the issue with mines, maybe it is a defect on my 8800?

I'm still leaning towards driver problem. Everything else on my rig is rock solid stable til I game in Vista.

I was questioning l33ts because of his comment that it's hot enough to burn him, and he seems to be having a much worse time with stability than many of the rest of us. I've only had that one crash, several others are saying they are gaming with only a few issues. So heat could be a contributor.

-LORD-eX-Bu']guess what, the operating system doesn't work. It is so unstable that I can't use it. Removing it as I am posting this. Five years to develop this crap and it doesn't work, what a joke:lol:

He's got a point... mine is doing the same thing with Splinter Cell Double Agent and Hitman Blood Money. Had to reboot about 8 times today.

Windows Vista is still in Beta. F*cking pathetic.

Windows XP nevergave mea problem when it came to heat. Other people's are idling at 78C just like mine. My case is kept a rather cool 60C ambient. My CPU temps are also 60C. I desperatly need watercooling.

NVIDIA is, look at their XP driver support.

That is a good deal warmer than standard, check around a bit. Your cpu shouldn't idle at more than 50c max really. And most 8800s I've read about might hit 78c under load, maybe a bit more.

Maybe an airflow problem in the case? I mean, it's your deal, I just think if you tried taking the side off and blowing a fan in you would see a huge difference.

Just curious, have you tried rivatuner to monitor temps while gaming? You can shut the game down and see what your card peaks at.

Well I suppose so. I migh try that tonigh because I have to take it apart to remove the TV card anyway. I dont thinkheat is going to cause crashes like this though.

No, not if that was the max. I did a bit of Farcry jsut to give you an idea after my last post.

You can see my ambient and core after 10-15 minutes on the river level at the end.

eh, I wish you luck with it, I'd be pretty nervous with temps that high.

Will do.
I played Supreme Commander, COH, WOW, Titan Quest all day yesterday day and into the night.. also played this morning way too much. No crashes so far. Earlier was getting the nvlddmkm error after about 20mins of gameplay sometimes less.

Also, I uninstalled all forms of dreamscene from my computer. Dont know if this has anything to do with anything but it was worth mentioning.

EDIT: that was with Forcewate 100.65 WHQL....

went to 100.95 and it hasn't happened at all. Still getting the nvlddmkm error tho.

damn, it started happening again and I started getting more artifacts, even on boot. I contacted MSI and they told me something is wrong with the memory on my board, so I filled out another RMA request and I am waiting for the approval. Everyone having this issue should check theirs:lol:

Sorry your cards acting up, but I kinda figured you and a couple others here had something else going on. Hope you get your new one soon man.

I had to go back to 100.65 too.

100.95 started giving the Nvlddmkm error after about 20-30 mins of running a 3d app (SL in this case).

101.41 gives me the same error but just after 5-10 minutes instead of 20-30 mins.

100.65 doesn't give me the error at all.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever be able to upgrade my drivers anymore.

At first I thought maybe my card was overheating, but it's happening so consistently even after putting a 12" desk fan to blow into my computer case, I'm beginning to think that's not the issue. I can't really test it though since the only app I've found that can measure my GPU temp on Vista x64 is nvmonitor. And it crashes as soon as it opens.

Still have not had the Nvlddmkm error since I have reverted back to the whqls.

Maybe it happens now cause of the SLI support with 101.41

Throwing my hat in the ring with this error...first time it has happened on my system, 4th time playing STALKER. Ran the game about an hr, then when trying to quicksave it tanked me to the desktop with the Nvlddmkm error. After reboot the system has been fine, but I havent played games since last night.

I havent had time to try older drivers (101.41 right now). My sytem is not oc'd at all, temps are fine (~50C CPU and case, ~65-75C load for GPU's, ~58-60C idle). I did report this to nVidia a bit ago.
