hmmmm

I have a Gigabyte 8800GTX card which is installed into an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with a Windows Vista 64 bit OS.

I have tried installing;

97.46
100.59
100.64
100.65

During the driver install the screen never flickers like it should when installing a new driver. After the prompted reboot the NVIDIA GeFORCE GTX device has a yellow explnation mark next to it.

The device status says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

So I boot to my XP drive and everything works fine. No problems with the drivers and the games play great.

My VGA has the latest BIOS as does my motherboard.

Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

How can there be WHQL drivers which don't even work?

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Am I safe to assume that the card isnt bad because it works in XP or should I exchange it?

Thank you for any assistance you may have on this!

Curious. My OcUK 8800 GTX works just fine on an A8N-E with Vista 64-bit and 100.64 drivers. If your card's working in XP then it's unlikely to be faulty. You've probably just run into yet another NVIDIA on Vista bug. :(

Have you tried rolling back the display driver and reinstalling? Or perhaps installing the driver manually through Device Manager?

I have tried manually installing the drivers, and rolling back to previous versions.

The only driver which will install for it is the 'standard vga adapter.'

Very strange however...I have not heard anyone else with a similar problem but that could be isolated to my specific rig.

I had such high hopes for 100.65 too!

Thanks for the reply :)
