You are right, Saturnotaku, It's true they post on other graphic cards. The majority of the news are Nvidia. Which is obvious because it's a nVidia Fan based site. When they have the time they post on other news. But the first and most priority is Nvidia based news. If they want to seriously get away from the stigmata of the Fan based, you would be expecting equal amounts of news. Catalyst 3.2 was released yesterday. I haven't seen any mobile 9600 news posts on here. I know i'm so damn nitpicky but just writing what I've seen. :)

Emotional brainfart gladly forgiven, it takes some cajones to stand up and admit it. :)

As for how much control/influence nVidia has over nVnews, that's a bit of a bone of great contention among a number of interested parties right now. This is an independantly owned site, but they do (obviously) have an nVidia bias and contacts within nVidia. I'm sure nVidia has been giving this site it's usually "unhappy nVidia" treatment (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=87748#post87748) and generally trying to make life aggravating for them whenever there is dissing nVidia news put up...but none of the staff have really complained of it and they still seem to be on good terms.

So the answer I guess is decide for yourself, there really is no hard and fast answer. Myself I happen to think the folks here who run this place are good people who try like hell to play fair and honest...you can make your own decision. :)

Uhmmm... I think MikeC wanted nVnews to be a fansite.

FgrMstr(Kyle from [H]) has said it himself

responding to I think hardocp ask nvnews not to link news to their page, i'm probably mistaken.

Kyle says:I asked them not to link our news stories that we post on our front page if they were basically going to copy and paste them in their entirety.

Yes...I know I am an absolute hypocrite for posting here again ( after stating that I would be leaving here for good ). However, I feel as though I can add some insight to one of the issues at hand here.

Actually, the entire reason I left revolved around nV News not posting an NVIDIA-related news story I sent them from HardOCP. Though my reviews at HardOCP were linked a few times, one day Mike decided that a quick mention in the General Hardware forum was enough attention for my next review and it did not get linked. As you might imagine, the amount of people seeing it on the front page grossly outweighs the number of people who would see the quick post in that specific forum. Regardless, it is a thing of the past and we have all moved on...

While I'm here, I just wanted to thank those who provided feedback ( positive and negative ) regarding the review. Furthermore, I'd like to thank all of those who have been keeping in touch with me via email ( pelly@hardocp.com ). I appreciate all of your comments and input and will keep doing my best to give you all solid and unbiased reviews.

Take care guys...

If nvnews is supposed to be a nvidia site why did Mike C then decide that nvidia wasn't enough when posting video card news? Why didn't he then call it "gpunews."?

I believe that rage3d holds much more clout and recieves much more hits BECAUSE it is ONLY an ATI site, while nvnews posts links, articles, and reviews that have many other variables besides nvidia's products.

It seems like a misnomer since if he had decided to rename it gpunews he would have had many more readers since people that own voodoo, ati, matrox, and kyrol (sp), would have visited the site.

Just questions and no intention of flame bating (like crank baiting!)

NOT TRUE!

I personally consider their OT forum a version of online therapy for me..... ;)

They do cover other news, but generally only as it relates to ATI.

We like to offer a broad variety of news for people to read over. We primarily focus on Nvidia related news, but it doesnt hurt to give our readers a bit extra now does it:cool:

Traffic is fairly even with nV pulling out ahead a bit...

http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=640&h=480&r=3m&u=nvnews.net/&u=rage3d.com

And that's (unfortunately) without much content from nV...

Don't let #s of members in a forum lead you astray in traffic. Take a look at Driverheaven, more members than these 2 sites put together, and traffic is not even close.

Over @ Envy, we have just under 600 members in the forums, and since the beginning of the year, our traffic nearly tripled, and pretty much has more traffic than both these sites put together now...

Really? That's interesting. I was always led to believe that DH's traffic was pretty damned heavy. (NOTE:I ain't arguing with you! I'm just surprised. :) )

Would it be at all possible to make that graph and include DH in the mix? I'd be damned interested in that just to see what the reality was/is.

Ya bud, AshG was lead to believe the same, but when reality hits, it's barely on the chart...I had to go back a year for it to even show up...

Thanks. (Oh, and  ! )

Question, why do the numbers seem to go backwards to me on the left handside of the chart? It seems to go from 20K at the top to 100K at the bottom, I don't get. What does it mean?

EDITED BITS: Doh! Rankings, rankings by amount of hits....got it. That doesn't make sense to me from what I've been lead to believe, but it makes a whole lot of sense to me and explains why I've been lead to believe a few things. Thank you, you've succesful helped me conscious mind figure out just what the F*CK my sub-conscious mind has been up to for a while. :)

But it's still way past my bedtime if that graph confused me. My thanks again to you for taking the time to make/post that up for me, it really is appreciated. :)

Alexa rankings...for example: a score of 20,000 means you are the 20,000th most popular web site on the net (according to them). There are a few loopholes here and there, but overall it's fairly accuarte....

that graph is highly innacurate IMO...

any given day you will see many more people @ r3d and there will be more posts and activity on the boards than here... many m,ore times in fact... if you look @ active users @ any given time... and uniques...

KILER, here is the top 100:
http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_500?p=Dest_W_t_40_L1

Sazar, your wish of seeing more active board members to accounting for more traffic doesn't make it happen. Like I said, alexa has some bugs, but overall, it's fairly accurate.

not a wish really..

just when I come here and refresh 100 times to get 2 new posts vs seeing 10-20 new posts at many other forums.. and then seeing teh comparative traffic when I can see the number of active users/uniques on any given day... and the perceived activity... which is what this apparently is measuring.. it becomes hard to believe it is so...

but who knows... maybe thats the way alexa measures ?
