Your current card is very good. Is it worth the upgrade? You're going from 620 to 625 GPU (or 648?) , 1.48 to 1.4 MEM, 512 to 256MB, 36 to 48 pipes? I definitely need 512 MB, although I have a buyer for my card, I may do the switch too. :)
Yes it is. I had to RMA the first my first HIS card and the brand new one I got back was also bad. It turns out that there were a lot of problems with the HIS ICEQ3 Rev.1 cards. HIS re-worked the card and there is now a Revision 2 (V2) card with slower core clocks and higer memory clocks. They also changed the memory from 1.4ns to 1.2ns.

OMG...
I love you Honestjohn.
In a totally heterosexual way

Damn! Why are the good ones heterosexual?
But seriously, sorry for the late replies. Family has been sick with Viruses and my wife is getting over a nasty case of pneumonia. On top of that, I have some nutcase chasing me around the internet who was banned from Guru3D for trolling an X1950 Pro thread. His latest was signing up with my username and linking/copying my posts and saying to stupid sh*t as me. He was banned yesterday from that forum.
Did you get the XT by the way?
Those results are great! Btw, your CPU makes a lot of difference it seems. I'm thinking of getting one of those Conroe 865 mboards and a cheap E6420 CPU's to inject a little more life in my AGP system. What do you think?

Yeah, the CPU makes a big difference and the new board and CPU is definitely a good idea as long as it's not too expensive.
Personally, in hind-sight I made a really stupid decision when I built my rig. At the time, I had a choice to have the fastest socket 754 CPU and a very good motherboard or go socket 939 and get a so-so motherboard with a mid-range CPU and an upgrade path. I chose wrong.

Yes, I also modified the cooler a little bit because of the crappy retention mecanism design.
I wish they had used ALL the holes on the card instead of just 4. Not enough.

I have a AsRock 939Dual SATA-II, they stopped making them. A shame really. It fully supports PCIe and AGPx4 x8 plus new AMD x2 chips with a add on card, Iv got a BFG 6800GSOC 256mb AGP that is softmodded to have more vetex pipes and shader pipes or something (was like a year ago I softmodded it google it)
I put in a X1950pro and it sucked compared to my 6800, but im trying to think if i wanna buy a new card just to extend my 3m/o old system (hey I had 450 bucks and I used all of it to make this!) what should i get a 8800GTS or a 7900GT or a 7800GT or a 7950??

hands down 8800gts, no question
No offence to all of you, but not everyone has the money to upgrade to a full PCI-X system. Look at my sig. I need a new Core2 Duo, a mainboard, a new 8800GTX, 2 gigs of memory, and possibly a new power supply. Not to mention a new XP or Vista license. That a lot of money (>1000$), compared to 250$. (that damn Volvo was expensive :) ) The gfx is the most important thing in a PC. And unless you have a 24 or 30 inch monitor, a 7900GTX or 1950XTX gives respectable performance for 6-8 months. I'm waiting for an intel DDR-3 chipset to upgrade, so I think I'll be ok for a few months. (even with the 1950Pro that I have now).
original PCI = PCI-X
PCI Express = PCIe
for future reference...
