Great news for AGP owners. Well done to ATI, for supporting AGP users. It's time for nvidia to release an 8xxx series AGP card.

No offense, but I think this AGP support is getting out of control. Initially, with the 7 series cards it made sense to release the 7800GS because PCI-E was still fairly new, and many people hadn't upgraded. An X1950XTX after there already is the X1950 Pro seems a little bit like overkill. If people want high end performance now, 3 years after PCI-E was released, they should upgrade. In most cases you're paying more for the AGP support, sometimes $100 more, just to extend the life of an already outdated system by 6 months. I would be very surprised if Nvidia released an 8 series card w/ AGP that had any considerable amount of speed.

No offense to the AGP users (I was one not so long ago my self), but I really do hope this is the last card to make it to AGP.
You guys need to move to PCI-e. You are holding up the works! :p
I'm pretty sure AGP is nearly dead... AGP sure died much quicker than PCI thats for sure :p

I'm pretty sure nVidia has abandoned the AGP market long long time ago. I think they've conceded this "scraps" market segment to AMD.
nVidia is forward looking and innovative after all.
No offence to all of you, but not everyone has the money to upgrade to a full PCI-X system. Look at my sig. I need a new Core2 Duo, a mainboard, a new 8800GTX, 2 gigs of memory, and possibly a new power supply. Not to mention a new XP or Vista license. That a lot of money (>1000$), compared to 250$. (that damn Volvo was expensive :) ) The gfx is the most important thing in a PC. And unless you have a 24 or 30 inch monitor, a 7900GTX or 1950XTX gives respectable performance for 6-8 months. I'm waiting for an intel DDR-3 chipset to upgrade, so I think I'll be ok for a few months. (even with the 1950Pro that I have now).

XTX? This is a 1950XT. Anyways, it's ok, but nothing for me. My X1950 Pro AGP seems to be dying on me after only two months of use, so I've had it with this rig now. Time to adopt PCIe for me, but for people with a beefy AGP rig (AMD X2 or similar) I guess it's a decent upgrade.

That's sad. I heard Sapphire PCI-x variants had cooling problems, perhaps they also had these with AGP? Fingers crossed, mine is from Gecube and is still working fine. I got the same sm2.0 and 3.0 performance in 3dmark 06 as the the results in firingsquad's review from a X2 4200+, so i'm very happy. It's amazing how my rig stills works good without reformatting after 4 years.
Pfft. No one is holding anyone up. Unless ATI delayed the R600 because people were still on AGP :P Some people may just want to upgrade their old video card and keep their systems for another year or even two. Personally I recently priced out a system and decided a VC upgrade made sense as the only aspect of my system that was not up to snuff was its pixel pushing power.
Would be nice if this was 512mb :(
But, still a good thing its a full 16 pipe config :D
Does anyone have a link to a site that's actually selling this thing?
Lol, another bump :)
If anyone has any info on this little baby for purchase, please let me know :D
Post here s'il vous plait.

How's your German? Looks like it's been available there since the end of February. My German's a bit rusty but there also appears to be a few user reviews.......
http://www.alternate.de/html/shop/productDetails.html?artno=jagg4c&baseId=8341 - $328.37 USD (Hopefully it will be cheaper when it reaches the states)
Yah, I saw that site and was tempted, but I want a local vendor in the states.
Cheers :)
Also, it was a little much. I guess $300-ish incl taxes is what I would like to be at, tops.

Your current card is very good. Is it worth the upgrade? You're going from 620 to 625 GPU (or 648?) , 1.48 to 1.4 MEM, 512 to 256MB, 36 to 48 pipes? I definitely need 512 MB, although I have a buyer for my card, I may do the switch too. :)
12 pipes to 16 does make a difference.
Considering some of the reviews I read, some of the people using the 1950pro complained of slow-downs in some areas not experienced on their r420/nv40 cards which had 16 pipes.
But over-all, perhaps not a gigantic difference.
I'll be ordering mine this week :D Should be a folding beastie too.
STALKER in my experience needs a lot of graphics memory. It crawls and locks when enabling HDR in ATI cards.(dunno about nvidia, I guess not, The way it's meant to be played). without HDR I get 60 fps. When increasing aperture size through BIOS to 256, a significant increase is noticed (from 1f/3sec to 5 fps). Does anyone know if STALKER needs more than a GB main memory apart from a lot of gfx memory? I have to be sure before getting a 256MB card again.
Damn cards are out of stock everywhere :(
Tuesday is the day they'll be back in town.
Oh well, good thing I have a notebook lol.

I would have been all over this if I were still running an AGP platform. Fortunately due to my old AGP boarding having gone out and forcing me to upgrade, I now run what I do today :), otherwise I would still be rocking that 8x.
That RED PCB with the black heatsink and purple fans doesn't do the job either, they should have really made it black for better appeal

I'm building bare bones LGA775 PCIE systems out the door for like $400. There is no excuse for AGP.
You can get a gig of DDR2, a decent core2duo cpu and motherboard for less than that as well.

Why do some ppl w/pci-e interface care if there are still new AGP cards being produced? How does it affect you?
There are plenty of ppl not wanting to upgrade more than GPU that are running 939 AGP systems or 754 or P4 rig.
nVidia has come out w/new AGP cards as well,http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=255075 and the debate goes on there as well.
If there were GPU's this nice in the same price range when I upgraded to pci-e I might never have left my socket A rig which was xp-m2600 OCed to 2.6GHz, which I was very happy with, except pci-e cards like 7900gt were leaving my 6800Ultra in the dust.
It's a lot cheaper to upgrade just a GPU than a whole system, new MB/psu/cpu/hsf/gpu/and poss ram

Thanks, very much pony :)
But here's a thing.
I don't give a flying ****. My folding rig has a lot of mileage left and I love my setup in it and all I need is one other component to keep it chugging along. With that 1950xt mine, and other people's rigs, will be a darn sight faster than the majority of pci-e rigs as well so again, thanks for the fabulous and pointless advice.
As dfi said, congratulations to you and your pci-e products, I am not going to dump my folding rig just because YOU think its better. And the other people looking at this product likewise are not going to be dumping their rigs.

Any AGP motherboard and CPU combo on the market now is just holding back any decent series video card anyway. Thats probably why the AGP cards that are released are not top of the line cards. Honestly... you can pick up a decent PCI-E motherboard and a decent AMD or Intel CPU for a cheap price these days and it would still be worlds better than most AGP systems. Clearly there are probably a few exceptions but like anything in computers... things get outdated and things move on. I loved my old AGP system too (its now my linux box) but at some point you have to just bite the bullet if you want to continue to ride with technology :)
