I'm now stuck at the point where I'm suppose to try and kill Carliton(sp?) again but this time he has a sniper rifle that does some serious damage. I laugh at reading the walkthroughs on this part cause they all say bring a shot gun or sniper rifle or quick run around and melee the dude. I have none of this stuff. I did have the 50cal off the jeep that was badass but that ran out of bullets long ago. I look at the screens with the walkthrough and they guy is at level 33 or greater with tons of health and item slots. I'm at level 11 for cripes sake. Am I suppose to go rescue 15 people and level up first before this mission? That'll take me forever.

The vibe I got from the game is you are supposed to die and start over multiple times in order to level up for the end. The game is basically meant to be played over and over from the beginning, like a NES game. It's pretty annoying.

I personally never got very far, barely into day 2. I always just loaded the game up, killed a bunch of zombies for fun, then played something else.

You know, I never played more then an hour of the game... I hated the time limit and save system so much that I just threw it in the corner and ignored it.

I like to do things at my own pacing, I hate being timed.... Im not very competitive and it just irks me. Im the type that in an FPS will ignore a first aid to back track later when I need it...

The save-system has its disadvantages yes. But at least this game is not a cakewalk like all other games today. I like games that punish me for my mistakes (to a certain extent), because it's so uncommon today with the "easy-mode" that seem to prevail the business. Now this game could have done it somewhat better, especially with the saves. As said you basically has to "play up" your char a bit then restart the game more powerful as the save system prevents you from using saves to help you on the first play.

It stroke me when listening to Blizzards panel about D3 design from Blizzcon 2008. They redone the game so the character feels more epic and powerful as the current generation of gamers wants it that way.

You should finish it... it is awesome... and you need to try the survival mode (been so long since I played DR I can't remember if that was the name)... it is so freaking hard because your life is constantly draining and you have to go out and get food and weapons and stuff to stay alive as long as you can... it owns.

Just as NarcissistZero pointed out, you should level up your character as much as possible first. Taking different action photos helps building up exp.

I never bought this game my self but I took turns playing at a friends house. I think we were around lvl 30 when we sayd we were going to just make another exp run but it turned out so well we completley finished the game on that go. I wont spoil but alot happens that you just dont expect and it's quite cool :)

I'm amazed, but I can see why, many of you did not take the patience or time to finish this game. If you were an early adopter, without FAQs and walkthroughs, I think I too would of given up after about an hour of play.

After some reading and understanding, this game is excellent with minimal gripes.

I played the game for a little bit and had fun with it.....until the escort missions. It got to the point where I just want to beat to death the people I had to save over the zombies.

Just a FYI, saving people are secondary objectives and totally optional. The main case missions can be done with out doing them.

Well, there is one main case mission where you bring someone back but it's rather 'different' from normal escort side missions.

You have to save people to get the 'good' ending though right?

No, as long you complete the objectives (cases) and have them done before time is up.

^^^^This here is key.

My game is now stuck. I get no proper ending cause I ran out of time to complete Final Case aNd no way around it due to having only 1 save point.

Beat the butcher. Case 8-4 closes, Final Case starts, says suppose to be in Security room by 10pm, current time in game directly after beating butcher is 10:10pm. Final Case immediately Expires. I'm done. No way I can get to butcher fight any faster to make a difference. Have to restart and redo whole game FASTER if I want to get to all the Cases.

This game has some serious design flaws or perhaps its perfect but the manual or game itself should CLEARLY state EXACTLY how this game works and plays out. The whole game is specifically timed to the Cases. If you are not fast enough throughout the whole game you will never get to all the Cases.

This is a big part of the reason why I gave up on the game way back when. I hate being under a time crunch to do anything, be it the timed challenges in Mario Galaxy or over an entire game, like in DR.

The Wii version is supposed to be much better in this regard, with the story segments playing out in an episodic manner, rather than with strict time limits. I'll have to read some of the previews once it gets closer to the street date.

Yeah. I'm the type of gamer that likes to take my time. Dead Rising kept on pushing me to finish everything fast and not enjoy the various scenaries, extra events, etc., and since I normally have time to beat a game once through only, I try to cram as many things in as I can knowing I won't be back most likely.

Dead Rising is a fun game, but the time crunch blows and pretty much killed any desire to go back and try it again.

You can rush to do all cases... it's a lot easier when you are level 50. You can finish all cases a lot earlier before time is up. Yeah, it's kind of annoying but I managed to fininsh it on first run when I bought it. :) The experience get better later in the game, trust me.

Too late. I went here..

and watched all the rest of the cutscenes and different endings.

I dislike having to replay a game to see or experience all of it. I'll just mess around some more doing side scoops till the 72hrs is up then trade this sucker in.

Heh heh. My friend at Blue Castle Games won't tell me but he said they plan to announce it next year (he doesn't say when).

I hate waiting. :p

If you want Dead Rising on easy mode forget the storyline and head outside then go into the carpark with the motorbike and the cars. Get into a car and drive down into the underground roads, if you have not been there before you will have a slight panic and the sheer number of zombies down here. :p

Drive around running them over and be careful to be close to the van underground when your car breaks down, do this for a few hours going back and forth until you hit over 64,000 kills and then go catch the helicopter (forget everything else, save nobody and take no risks). When you start the game again you will get the megaman blaster as a weapon, save it for bosses. What was a 5-10 minute bossfight turns into a 3 second battle with one blast of your blaster finishing them.

I have played this game on and off a few times now, and while I liked the demo, I am really disliking the game. I am just bored to death of it not only that but the aiming the gun is horrible. The camera works right, but the gun feels so awkward to use. I am so glad I only wasted $10 on this.

Gun? Pick up a frying pan or bat. The best thing about Dead Rising is bashing the crap out of Zombies.

Frying pan or bats don't work against people shooting at you with a gun.

Yeah but you get use to it. Main draw though is still killing hordes of zombies. Try to like it more than dislike it.
