View Full Version : This sucks. I mean really. NVIDIA, hello?
I ended up buying home premium just so I can start learning it early. I'm not disillusioned because I wasn't expecting much to begin with performance -wise, but it's not going to make me drop my other OSs for quite some time.
Sadly, this is what happens when launch decisions are in the hands of marketing rather than the techs/engineers who know the real scoop.
Vista will get there just like xp did, I just hope it doesn't take as long.

meh, i gave up and bought another HDD and installed XP. Dual Boot = Problem solved. Vista is now my OS for everything except games, and I use a nice lean XP install for games. Best of both worlds. I'll save vista for gaming until DX10 games appear and I upgrade to a DX10 card.

So refreshing to see posts like this.
I mean really, anyone complaining can do as you did, and most probably do already, but they'd rather complain here too because they need the attention.

I agree, everyone should buy a brand-new HDD for eye-candy.

I think someone needs a lesson on partitions :)

I still can't get FSAA to work. (sort of worked in beta 100.65, not at all in WHQL version)
I still can't get my Sharpening and Gamma options to stick.
I still don't have SLI. (how do they get premium WHQL certification and not have SLI?)
My avatar could not be any more accurate.
"He Who Is About To Replace His PC With A Wii And Xbox 360"
quite funny
FSAA works for me, in all games
sharpening? and gamma i don't use, so maybe you are right
SLI for 7 series will be later, and do you even know what is required for WHQL certification? its basically a test to make sure the driver doesn't crash windows, it has nothing to do with SLI or any other graphical setting.
now for the really funny part, you complain about not having FSAA, and yet you want to replace the PC for a console that also doesn't have that FSAA, do you see the irony?

No problems at all with games on Vista, Vista is now used as my primary OS, Windows XP is just installed 'just in case' Vista doesn't want to work

same over here, vista is my primary system, i had few issues in beginning, but its perfectly fine now. i have backup of my ex-xp partition on a external hdd, but that probably will get wiped in few days.

Also using vista as my main os. Had a few issues early on with using forceware 100.59 but no mayor issues since 100.64. Pretty happy. Now all I need is a dx10 game.:)

well i have a 8800GTS and WIndows XP not bought me Vista yet as i wanna wait for a while.
well most of my games is just amazing smooth gameplay oblivion is now so totally playable over my 7900GTX same with quake4 i ultra mode
and that i finally got me 2gig ram
so vista i canīt say nothing about or 100.65 but as for97.92 i am pleased.
i think Nvidia and MS need to get more mature time for vista and drivers
i guess DX10 and all that is not that easy to perfect right away.
so give them time and i think theyīll get it right.
ATI need some super card for me going ATI again
for me the manufacturer isnīt all that important ATI as Nvidia as far as a good card goes i donīt mind ATI over Nvidia and vice versa.
well hope you get that ALI working mate
good luck

So, you're using an inferior OS which has afforded you nothing but instability and reduced performance and you're complaining about Nvidia? Amazing...
Rubbish, Vista is far more stable than XP is, and is superiour is many ways.

R600 doesnīt seem all that superior to 8800 series
but i guess there is something i miss that makes it so much faster dispite it has less stuff than 8800
what is it with R600 making it sell my nvidia cards?

I agree... I call BS on that statement. I have had the same XP install now for like 2 years and its been 100% stable the whole time. Vista has crashed on me several times already (although I have recently fixed that with better drivers).... even so... its not more stable... if anything its just as stable. Vista is a nice OS... but nothing is mature for it yet and quite frankly if you do need it I would advise waiting till you do.

I have my copy of Vista Ultimate laying on my desk ,I will install it one of these days when Vista get more mature,XP is very stable for me and I can run all my games old and new.I think they should have waited 6 months or more and got with ATI and Nvidia and made better drivers to begain with,I still don't rember haveing that many problems when XP first came out.
For me Vista is just as stable as XP... I think it will get better overtime though with better drivers, the Vista driver model makes some improvements to increase overall stability.
