Its true

“To better align our strategy with current market opportunities, we’ve changed the launch plan for R600. We are going to deliver a competitive configuration to market with an extremely attractive combination of performance, features and pricing, targeting a broader market segment in Q2,” a statement by the company reads.

Translation: G80 kicks all sorts of ass,(mostly ours) And our engineers are idiots. :D

Understatement of the year for AMDATI ? :D It seem AMD and now ATI cant get any press unless its bad press. The question I ask,is at what point
does the "Better bad press, then no press" start to breakdown ?? :D :p

Or are (as I believe we are) well past that point for AMD now ?

Can you say..... 500 million dollar loss isnt enough??

Last year they lost like 450 million dollars on 1.7billion in revenue, thats NOT GOOD AT ALL! Thats TERRIBLE. While Nvidia pulls out a pretty 800million profit? EVEN WITH the 7900 series fiasco! i say.... Ati needs to get their stuff together or else they will be bought out by a PEF.

I wonder if this is hardware or software related? If they know nvidia is still having issues with Vista drivers then why rush their product if they MAY be having the same issues.

They can then say they released a more polished product ( a bit late if you ask me) but polished non the less.

R600 delayed for Q2 2007 (April, May June)

The good thing is that it's not a huge delay
and it's still going to be released before summer

I am kinda mad now because if the R600 is being pushed back, then Nvidia has no reason to release the 8900GTX. :(

On one hand this is great news for the nVidia fanboi, but the above poster is right. nVidia doesn't have to release their secret weapon so quickly now.

But hey, this only means more people will know about and buy nVidia branded products during this delay and that means more profits to nVidia.

I don't consider a 900$ Crossfire setup to be a good "solution" for keeping up with a 600$ 8800GTX. Sorry.

And considering also that it wouldn't be able to run Direct X 10, what's the point? So, really? I could spend 300$ more AND not get DX10 compatibility? Where do I sign up???

a, X1950XT here is 200Euro (250 dollars ? ). so , a couple of it is less than 600 , far from 900$ AFAIK... be more objective please !
(DX10 game will not be here until 1stQ or 2nd Q 2008 ). we have time ...

depends on what they're doing. as long as they're working hard on something that'll be impressive, bad press now doesn't mean anything for the health of the company in the long run. you don't sell stock at the first price fluctuation.

restructuring is a very expensive process. especially w/ what they're trying to accomplish.
