I installed Vista Ultimate on a new PC using an internal Lite-On DVD-RW. After it boots to windows, Vista says the driver cannot be loaded because it is corrupt. HUH? CD/DVD driver corrupt?
I have never seen that before.
Anyone else?
Think I might have better luck with a SATA DVD-RW?

simple, 90% chance you installed some old un-supported burning program.
and that program installed some low-level filters on the optical driver that are not compatible with vista.
nero has a clean tool on their website, aka registry/driver clean tool
this could be caused pretty much by every older burning software: nero, ez cd, alcohol etc..

I didn't install any burning software. Only WinDVD4, and it worked once.
Maybe its a bad drive. I will check it on another machine.
