I just ordered a 9700 pro w/2.8ns memory. This place also carries the 3.3ns flavor. How can I know for sure that they shipped me the 2.8 and not the 3.3 for the slightly higher cost? Do both use Samsung memory? :confused:

It should say it right on the memory chips.

The manufacturer's name is on there but I don't have datasheets on the devices to know the specs. According to this review,
http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/radeon/r9500-9700-dx9-p1.html#p6
the Samsung K4D26323RA has an access time of 2.8ns. I don't know what the part number is for 3.3 is. There's no number on the chip to tell the access time aside from getting a datasheet from Samsung's website and looking for the value corresponding to the chip designation.
As dpbement pointed out that the memory on the 9700 Pro is
Samsung K4D26323RA GC-2A (my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro says GC2A)
the GCXX tells you how fast is your memory
2A = 2.8ns (350Mhz)
33 = 3.3ns (300Mhz)
36 = 3.6ns (275MHz)
Here is the link to the information and spec sheet
