What program do you I have to use to overclock my 8800GTS in Vista? I tried nTune and it doesn't work right, tried Rivatuner 2.0 but it doesn't have the overclock page, and tried ATITool and it worked until I reboot and now the program won't load, says something about the kernel driver not being loaded. Read something about UAC disables unsigned drivers or something on every reboot. Help!

Techpowerup has a new version of ATiTool that works under Vista (0.27):

I use nTune to jack up my fan and ATiTool to apply the actual OC because nTune always gives me a fail under Vista even if it is just a +1 increase.

That's the one I'm using, there's definitely something wrong with it because if you read the forum over there, there are other peeps that had the same thing happen to them. Has something to do with unsigned drivers. Anyway it's working for now.

Anyone else notice higher temps in Vista?

[pErMan']Anyone else notice higher temps in Vista?

Not sure what it should be at in XP but in Vista I'm getting around 78-89C on mine. What is it normally in XP?

I imagine Vista probably does make it run higher since the OS does actually use the video card hardware functions unlike XP, so it makes it work more than it normally would in XP.

well, normally Nvidia comes with a new tool to overclock, seperated of the driver

My 8800 is 57C under stock cooling in Vista. Full load is at the low 60s.

Vista is defiantly going to have higher temps because the GUI uses the video card where as other version of Windows don't.

Mine Idles at 73C in Vista. I think some of these things just run way too hot. Probably has something to do with the resistor problems and whatever causes them to beep on shutdown.

Yet another reason to go for an 8900GTX as soon as they are available. :D

Mine magically dropped a bit starting last night, now it idles around 74C. Not too worried about it, but I did order an Antec Super Cyclone slot cooler as I saw somebody say that dropped their temp by a bunch, will have it installed on Tuesday so I can check then. Ya since I ordered the eVGA card I plan on probably stepping up to at least an 8900GT if they are out and available for step up in the next 90 days.
