hmm..I'm looking at possibly re-installing. I uninstalled these, rebooted, installed the 100.65s and now anything related to 3d apps causes an instant bsod.

Just do the repair option. That will clean out your drivers without nuking your programs.

101.41 works fine here.
Same performance with prev driver, only difference is when i press ctrl+alt+del there is NO screen corruption (brief) any more.

Also, the nvidia control panel got a 100% speed boost.

Supreme commander, Counter-Strike Source, CnC3 demo, X-Plane (opengl).
No problems at all.

PS. the source fog issue seems to have been resolved (correct me if i'm wrong)

Just noticed a little bug i think(running vista ultimate x64).
I just saw that in my control panel i have a nvidia icon which is unnamed, and it doesn't open the control panel when i click on it.

Anyone else having this?
Yes I have the same problem with Vista Ultimate x64. Nvidia control panel icon is unnamed and doesnt work. I could access it however by right clicking on my desktop. I went back to 100.65 due to problems with Apple Quicktime and Windows Media player.

I'll give that a shot. Forgot about it actually. :p

I started getting this with 101.41 too, and I still get it with 100.65 it seems.

I'm back in XP for now...

Yep same here. Looks like BlueSOD has been replaced by BlackSOD....thanks MS and thanks Nvidia. (nana2)

Seems the new Black is the old Blue. Now with Vista when people refer to BSOD it means black screen of death.

I can't get over how unstable the 101.41 drivers have been. I have rolled back to 100.65 and things have settled a little, but I still get driver not responding - it shouldn't be happening at all.

Also, with all of Nvidia's driver updates, I notice the odd flickering pixel on my desktop, however, reverting back to MS's display drivers does not exhibit this fault.

My system was absolutely rock solid running x64 XP - I feel like a complete prat jumping onto the Vista bandwagon. I've suffered Vista's faults since it's availability on MSDN, I'm missing the reliability of my previous OS. Even the kids and the missus are complaining about how their games are running!

C2D 6400, BFG 7900GT, 4 x 1 GB GeiL DDR 2 800 PC6400, 4 x 320 GB Seagate Barracudas, GigaByte 965-DQ6, Mirai 32" HD LCD, ThermalTake Tai Chi Chasis, Tagan 580W PSU.

Edit: Backing up Vista Enterprise x64 - time to restore my x64 XP Acronis image :\

WHQL is stable, BETAS can be stable, but don't have to be, cause they are BETA, just to test things out and fix bugs for a next BETA or WHQL

Alot of people forget these are BETA drivers

If they didn't release this driver, well people would complain cause they don't release a driver to test with and Nvidia just doing their stuff and don't look to their costumers.

We can be happy they release such a driver.... , even if there are still bugs in it, Microsoft didn't approve this driver yet, so it's possible there are still bugs in the SLI code, but at least they already give it a try!!!!!!

I'v had much better luck with beta than WHQL in XP. All WHQL is, is the drivers are certified by MS to work on that operating system. Afaik there is no rigorous testing on different platforms to determine stability or bug hunt. They are just signed off to work.

QFT and as a side note the long delay between beta and WHQL has more to do with the buerocratic red tape of MS WHQL (think of it as one shop that has to stamp everyones product) than "a whole lotta fixin' goin on". There are exceptions to major issues.

personally don't care about WHQL myself, but in this case 100.65 is better then 101.41

only reason why i still use 101.41 is becuse they fixed Call of Juarez shadows, and i want to play

And not to mention that the video settings and enhancements are working.

Do these drivers support hardware assist for MPEG2 or H.264 playback? Seems like my CPU usage is significant when playing MPEG2 back vs. how it was with XP.

I'm not sure. I tried some x264 stuff, but I got rather high usage. Maybe I'm not using the proper software for it.

For me the 100.41's are much improved over the 100.65's

Armed Assault won't work with these drivers in Vista 64bit, loads up but crashes to desktop when starting a game. Also a new problem has arrisen, when 3DM06 is launched the screen turns black with just the 3DM06 loading box then flashes back to windows before going into 3DM06. (nana2)

Not to mention again that these drivers broke the Vista experience index, they just simply won't run it. Only good thing about them is no shadow corruption in COJ, aside from that there utter crap. (nana2)

Who needs Vista experience index anyway

Same here, TDU seems stable with the 100.65.

it works perfectly on xp, so these vista drivers are to blame, and with hdr off i get low fps in places. with hdr on the sky is black and fps are cut in half, on xp i got no fps change.
i don't expect miracles, i expect some decent drivers.

main reasons why i went back

1) infernal demo keept reseting the driver every few seconds
2) wmp11 kept either crashing or reseting the driver while playing avi files
3) it totall killed Double Agent HDR+AA trick
