I have just completed an upgrade of my system and run into a problem.
I have a gigabyte motherboard GA-K8N51GMF-9 with onboard nvidia 6100GPU.

I have installed an albatron 7900GS successfully with no errors reported and it runs fine, massive increase in performance. The fault occurs when i restart my computer, I get a crash on the win Xp startup screen where the machine just locks. I can only restart in safe mode unistall the driver and reinstall. It works fine untill I shut down again.
I have tried the latest forceware driver 93.71 and motherboard bios F7.

any ideas on what the problem might be?

My next step is to completely remove the card and try to start fresh, will this work?

any help or hints would be aprreciated

Did you set the primary display in the BIOS to PCI-e? If not, then it's probably conflicting with the onboard setting, since you do have onboard graphics.

i headed down that path too, the bios is set to use the PCIe card

Could be faulty PSU. Do you have the latest mobo drivers installed? Or maybe just a bad install of Windows. You are using Media Center drivers and not just XP drivers, right? I'm really tryin' to think of a few things it could be. Do you have a single hard drive? What wattage PSU do you have?

Thanks for help
I have loaded the latest motherboard driver and are using the media center drivers from nvidia.
I am running a 400W power supply.
