Oh man, I just noticed this was mentioned in a review and it SEVERELY hurts the game for me. My dad was excited about me getting the game on Monday because he really wanted to race against me, since I told him the game would be multiplayer.
The IGN forums said something about a rumor of a split-screen patch being released, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't have put it in the game in the first place.

Yeah its pretty unfortunate and it sucks with the lack of offline mp. Not sure if it has to do with the physics and the graphical fidelity while playing in split screen that makes it not doable. Theres a lot of stuff working in the background most racing games don't have which might have an effect on offline multiplayer if it were to be done.

Probably just didn't have enough time if it's something coming in a patch.

Motorstorm seems to be having quite a few "not enough time" issues, ust look at the japanise version and all that is missing from it.

Is the game THAT good that you'll eventually own 2 copies of it?

I think it is... not the first time I would own more then a single copy of a game. I own 3 copies of Quake 3 and UT (DC, PC, PS2).

That reminds me of how much money I spent on Capcom games... I owned like 5 different copies of RE1 and 2 or 3 ones for RE2... they drained back in the day lol.

The PS3 is hard to program for so they may not yet have split screen experience. It does mean that the system can only use 1/4 the processing power and 1/4 the detail (per player.)
I guess they assume online is better and wouldn't make the system not look superior. Details and frame rate go down w/ split screen. Now there's online, so they're going with that now, most likely.

I own the Jaguar, 3DO, 32X, versions of Doom 1. I own multiple NBA Jam's. And I used to have even more of both. It's always fun to compare the different versions and even more fun to have the best one.
