Why do americans hate the french?

Honestly, not all of us hate the French many are very appreciative of the efforts President Chirac has taken to derail Bush's downhill frieght train to war. It won't work, but it's the thought that counts

Others have the idea, that once America's President speaks. Everyone should just become mindless children and just say, "Yes Sir!!!". Of course these are usually our governement chickenhawks too, and they've been doing a lot of coattail riding.

Personally, I've very glad someone had the stones to say, "hold your war horses bub, when the world asks why? Just saying .. Trust me, isn't good enough."

The difference you keep going back 100 years ago to throw it in my face. I can go just a few years back, besides the native americans did their share of slaughter even before we got here. It's not like they are holier than thou.

Hate to say it, but we Americans virtually erradicated the Indians, damn near genocide before there was a word for it.

It's funny, the question was "why do Americans hate the french" and it turns into AGAIN, Amercian bashing. I'm really getting sick of it.

No one mentions the Belgiums in the Congo, the French in the Ivory Coast, ect ect..

Europe is a has been power and Rumsfeld was right. The problem is that France still thinks it's important. Europe is pathetic and it's native population is shrinking and being replace by imagrants. The only power in Europe that had keept up with the times is England. That is why we don't like the french, because you have nothing to offer the world. What do you lead in......nothing. In recient IQ average testing 110 being average the French scored near the bottom of all western cultures. The US was average and Japan Korea, China were among the op with over 110.

The french are just plain corrupt and nasty people. The sociast government is pathetic. Nice unemployment ya got there. We are hurting also but not near as bad as france.

So get off the American bashing. Europe has many more skeletons in it's closet than the US.

Also we have advance the world more in 200 years than france has done in its existance.

BTW the french are the lowest form of white man. :p

Apparently, "Old Europe" is enough of a power to stick it to us, in the face of our multi-billion dollar bribes. That by itself speaks volumes.

UDawg -- I'm truely saddened to see you speak of "white men" that way. Never underestimate anyone. That was exact same mistake Rumsfeld made, and because of it, we lost world support and may be losing UK support. In trade we get Spain, yeah.

Typically in educational tests, Americans consistantly score the lowest (last I checked there were nations in Africa that beat us). However, that's not a comprehensive measurement as we enjoy a far higher standard of living. So there's more to the pictures (personalyl, from my travels I think we're more innovative than others, all others to be honest, but that' just my opinion) For IQ tests, it depends on what you're testing for, most shrinks don't put a lot of stock in them, because it's very hard to quantify intelligence.

We have our, problems and yes Europe has theirs the difference is Europe is far, far older than we are.

I think it's important to note that we're overdue for some American bashing, like history, you can expect it, learn from it, but don't sleep with it.

IQ is not the end all to intellegence, I agree. Yet you can give the same tests over defferent cultures and see how they score. France scored low on IQ test. We were average. This does not mean I think the french are inferior people just pathetic people. The phrase I used "lowest form of white man" was taken from the movie Geronimo. Rober Duval said "Texans.... lowest form of white man" after he saw a village of navajos killed.

Old Eruope has failed. All they did was avoid a vote. It will not stop us. They failed and we will go and win this war. The rest is in God's hands.

Funny thing, our winning isn't guaranteed, keep in mind to win, a new Democratic Iraq must replace Saddams regime. Given the Arab resentment towards anything American right now. We may pound the Iraqi army to bits, but suppressing the people, may take a bit more... not to mention urban fighting. This could get ugly quickly.

I feel Bush isn't so much an optimist as he's not sharing the same reality the rest of us do.

P.S. Knowing where the phrase comes from is helpful, unfortunately it still sounds really bigotted. The french aren't bad people, I've met many of them (never gone to France though, to be honest, never wanted too). On the whole I think they're about as stuck up as we are. So our present disklike of them is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

My ancestory is English and a little Cherokee so putting down other white europeans isn't that big of a deal, at least not to me.

I can't say it's altogether appropriate to blame France for their opposition to the war. (provided that's the only thng held against them right now)

Seeing as though, they've swayed Russia, who had more to gain by working with us and China, who didn't need to care either way. So it's not like France had something to offer we couldn't match, its more likely Bush's team just bungled the crap out of our position and anyone with a snowball for a brain could have blocked our proposition.

It's just convient to blame France. Speaking
of which while we're on this topic and seeing as how we're renaming French fires (which aren't french anyway), anyone care to take a guess on how long it is until we dismantle and ship the Statue of Liberty back to France? Or would that be saying more about our country than theirs?

No. It's more of the case of positioning in the world. France is trying to make a move on the EU. It wants to be the leader of The EU. Plain and simple. It is using the anti-American sentiments in europe right now to it's advantage.

Well it turns out that is just the opposite. It seems man take the US leaflets into their homes and are waiting to be liberated. They do see the US a liberators. He is something to think about. Roughly 4 million poeple have fled Saddamn controled Iraq to the north Kurdish controled region. This country has around (bahhh forget the number) but it is around 20 million people. That is a large number of people fleeing. The rest are just waiting. They will welcome us but I do fear what will happen with Turkey and the Kurds in the north.

So? I have taken IQ tests too you know. My IQ is 137, I think it's bull****. I don't view myself smarter than anyone. I view my dog more intelligently. IQ tests prove nothing. I have seen a Frenchmen outsmart Einstein. :p

there's a few problems with this. first of all many countries test only their top students, while in America this is not true. a broad spectrum of students in the US get tested, which gives a very big edge to those countries who only test their smartest kids.

second of all, the educational system in the US is poor. at least in relation to its status in the world and its potential.
