I'm running vista ultimate and a 8800gtx. in xp when i changed the gamma setting down it would darken the colors in both desktop and gaming apps. with the new drivers for vista i turn gamma down and my desktop apps darken but my 3d games remain the same. am i missing a setting in the cp? also, will ati tools allow to set the gamma for both? thanks, i really want to stay with visya...

Go to the NVIDIA control panel menu and hit 'Video and Television'. 'Adjust video color settings' is in there.

i tried but no luck... also is the default gamma setting 17 under the video and television color settings?

If you are running the 64-bit version it could be an unsigned driver problem.

I filed a bug report about similar color adjustment issues. I have found the color settings in Rivatuner (http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner) work very sweetly in Vista though.

will rivatuner override the nvidia settings on bootup? And if so, should I leave the nvidia driver settings at default? Thanks...

Sorry it took a while to answer, yes they do over ride them. I leave nvs at default, I don't believe you have to have rivatuner start at boot either for settings to take effect.

I'm pretty new at rivatuner too, so alot of what I'm doing is experimenting and learning.

Thanks, I'll give it a try tonight. So when you adjust the gamma in rivatuner and the 101.41 drvs with vista, the color adjusts in vista for both 2d and 3d..

Yes it does. I've been using FEAR to go by, seems the shadows in that game are way more sensitive to adjustments on my lcd than other games, so any change is very noticable for me.

Yep! Just got home and tried it out. What a difference. I think the author of rivatuner needs a job at nvidia. Thanks fot the help...
