Apparently so...finally! Some good titles on the way!

I'm quite interested in Smoking Aces, The Good Shepherd, BSG: Season 1, Heroes season 1, Shaun of the Dead, The Bourne Identity and Mallrats.

God damn Kevin Smith, though. He quadruple dips worse than Lucas.

I'm pretty pissed I dropped $50 on Season 1 right after Christmas, but at least it was all BB gift cards. Sigh...guess I'll be buying that again... :o

Have they released any TV shows on HD yet or will this be the first?

If the HD version of a movie is 3-4x the cost of the DVD it makes me fear the pricing on HD TV shows.

Smallville Season 5 and Sopranos Season 6 part 1 are out on HD DVD.

I think Smallville is like $65 at Best Buy...so about $15 more than the SD DVD. Sopranos is like $120...but the SD DVD versions are $90. HBO really loves to gouge the **** out of their customers. :(

Thats good to hear.

Although Movies tend to focus more on visuals than TV Shows, so you get more value out of the increased resolution with them vs most TV Shows. Sci Fi probably is the best Genre of TV for HD quality releases.

Yeah HBO's acronym should mean "HEY BEND OVER!"

hahahaha

And yeah...I wouldn't be opposed to TV shows being released on a single HD DVD instead of like 6 DVDs. I'm not overly concerned with most TV shows being in HD.

Shows like Alias, Lost and such...yeah, that'd be nice, because most of those shows have movie-caliber visuals.

Shows like The Simpsons, South Park, The Shield, etc...not so necessary. A single disc for a whole season would be phenomenal.

Yeah talk about a marathon session. You would never have to leave the couch or touch the remote. (I recommend Depends)

Amazon has Smallville Season 5 HD for $55.95 free shipping.

Season 7 is starting next week and Season 6 hasn't even been released yet.! I'm hoping it will be HD DVD.

did you just say season 7 of Smallville was starting next week? :eek2:

its still season 6...and that of course is why the season isn't released yet....

Oops. After further research it turns out that #7 is not debuting next week. hehe oops again.
Hence my reasoning...
March 15th is just the big wedding thing.
(I just got the CW a few weeks ago and have been avoiding watching Smvl...)
Just finished #5 last night on HD DVD.

Are you sure Season 6 isn't over? Wouldn't it be highly unusual for the following season to begin immediately? Not even a 1 week delay.
Are you watching repeats? :D
March 15th season 7 begins.

wow....you have absolutely no idea how tv works...

its still season 6...

in May season 6 will end and then season 7 will start in either Aug. or Sept....(maybe even Oct., but most likely Spet.)

TV has worked this way for years...Smallville has worked this way since its been on...

why does TV seem to confuse people so much now-a-days when its followed basically the same format for a very long time (with a few exceptions ie: 24, summer shows, cable shows, etc...)

Because cable TV doesn't follow the same "standards" that broadcast TV does.

and smallville is on broadcast TV....

and that's what we're talking about...

so what's your point?

i know how cable TV works...i work for MTV....television isn't rocket science yet so many people can't seem to grasp the simple concept of TV scheduling...

Read my edit above. Relax TV pro.
April 19th seems to be the final episode--Nemesis

That's good to hear. More episodes the better.

I couldn't get the CW until I picked up an SXRD which has a digital tuner.

Did I say Smallville was on cable?

No.

You asked why people are so confused by it. Maybe it's because broadcast shows are typically 24 episodes/season while cable is around 13 episodes.

Broadcast shows typically start in the early fall and go until May while cable shows start whenever the hell they want to.

Then you have shows like LOST that have an 8 episode "Fall season" and 13 weeks off, with another show premiering in its timeslot for that long gap in the middle of November. It comes back in mid-February with the "Spring season."

And cable shows like The Shield are in season 5...it had 10 or 13 episodes in its last run and has been off for close to a year with the second part of season 5 starting April 3.

And then there are shows like the Sopranos...

What it comes down to is that TV DOESN'T have many standards anymore. Cut him some slack.

And working at/for MTV gives you a hell of a lot less credit than you might think, brah. ;)
